Edward Harper curled his lips, as if he never had any expectations of her.
"Don't be nervous. If your performance isn't great, you can just stay home like before."
Clara Knox thought, Only a fool would be nervous. He talked as if she was desperate to stay in his company.
"I'm going on a business trip to Sea City tomorrow. I'll be back in about a week."
He was informing her of his schedule again.
Clara let out a sound of surprise, feeling a bit unaccustomed to his current manner. She recalled the last time he went to America on a business trip. He disappeared for a week without a word to her.
She called him countless times, nearly ready to call the police. Finally, Secretary Johnson informed her that he was in America. Because of this, Clara decided never to ask about his business trips again.
Now, he was explaining clearly, making her feel as if she were dreaming.
Edward snapped his fingers in front of her,
"That's your reaction?"
"What's wrong?"
