Edward Harper dialed Aria Knight's phone number, and a sorrowful, aged male voice came through—it was clear it was Brandon Knight.
"Director Harper, I finally got a hold of you. Aria's heart disease has acted up, you must take care of her, this child is so pitiful, she's been through a lot, if it weren't for that year she fell into the water..."
On the other end, Brandon Knight wiped away his tears, paused, then said, "Forget it, no need to mention old stories. It's just that Aria's health can't take another blow, you should come see her, she's carrying your child."
Brandon Knight intentionally mentioned that year Aria nearly drowned saving Edward, which caused her heart condition, to win Edward Harper's sympathy and make him feel indebted.
From the time Aria fell ill and called Edward but couldn't reach him, and only after Bella Harper called did he respond, Brandon Knight had realized Edward Harper was avoiding the issue.
