Chapter 216: Uninvited Guest

"Did you receive the flowers I sent?"

Clara looked surprised and asked,

"What flowers?"

Adam Duncan chuckled,

"Seems like you didn't read the card. No worries, I've come to deliver my wishes in person."

Clara tried to maintain her composure,

"That's very kind of you, sir, but we don't know each other well enough for me to accept your gift. How much did the flowers cost? I'll have my assistant transfer it to you."

Her reaction was expected by Adam.

Adam paused and said,

"Miss Knox, I'd like to discuss a business proposal with you. Could we speak in private?"

With that request, the two sharp-witted assistants quietly moved aside, leaving only the two of them in the hall.

Clara kept a stern face; she didn't want any connection with anyone from Capital City, especially the man in front of her, who was a classmate of Edward Harper.

As an adult woman, how could she not know what Adam was thinking?
