The box contained a set of couple's pajamas folded neatly, two torn marriage certificates that had been glued back together, and the wedding rings that her grandfather captured in a photo for the newlyweds — one of which Edward Harper later gave her. There were also two sets of baby clothes she had previously bought and hidden in the wardrobe.
Those pajamas were chosen and bought by Clara Knox just after they got married. She was thoroughly satisfied with everything, from the style to the fabric, but Edward Harper simply refused to wear them.
Back then, Clara Knox had a thick skin and didn't care if he was willing or not; she wore those pajamas herself often, and they became old and worn, yet she couldn't bear to throw them away.
Now, the two pajamas, one new and one old, had their sleeves tightly tied together, as if afraid of getting separated.
