Chapter 381: All Medicine

Clara's question instantly heightened the tension inside the car.

She couldn't help but glance sideways at the driver's seat. At a red light, Edward Harper stared straight ahead, his large hands gripping the steering wheel. His face was expressionless, revealing nothing of his thoughts.

A few seconds later, Oliver Knox's voice came through the phone, delivering his answer:

"The 'threshold' varies depending on the person. You know our family atmosphere—none of us are pretentious or snobbish. Your future partner, whether poor or unattractive, if you like them, I won't oppose. But remember one thing: their character must be impeccable, especially if their last name is Harper!"

The latter part of Oliver Knox's remark made Clara's heart clench. She had initially planned to tentatively bring up Edward Harper, but his resolute attitude forced her to swallow her words.
