Chapter 429: Kind of Like a Proposal

Edward Harper picked the largest one. When the shop assistant offered to peel it for him, he stopped her.

At checkout, he triple-layered it in a tote bag and carried it to the car.

Normally, he couldn't stand the smell of durian, but to make his wife happy, even this so-called "difficulty" was something he could overcome.

Reaching the parking spot, he opened the back door of the car and gestured for Clara to get in first. Then he followed and sat down next to her.

"Clara, let me peel it for you."

Edward Harper put on a pair of disposable gloves, carefully pried open the durian shell along the seams, and revealed the golden, plump, and appetizing flesh. In an instant, the car was suffused with the rich aroma of durian.

Clara swallowed her saliva. She remembered how, in the past at Brocade Garden, whenever she brought home a durian mille-feuille cake, he would make her eat it out on the balcony. Afterward, she'd have to clean up and throw out the packaging right away.
