Chapter 10 Did I Perform Poorly?

Wen Ran watched the two leave and suddenly felt afraid.

Although she was not familiar with Fu Chenlie, she was even less familiar with the others present, and she had been brought by Fu Chenlie. When Granny Fu took him away, she suddenly felt utterly lost.

Fortunately, Fu Junyu initiated a conversation with her, "Ranran, how did you get to know my mom?"

"That day I was jogging in the park, and I saw a thief steal Grandma's wallet, so I asked the park's gardener to help me catch the thief and retrieved her wallet, and that's how we met."

"You really helped your Grandma then. There was a photo in her wallet, taken when your grandpa was still alive. It's both of them together, very precious."

Wen Ran smiled, "It's good that nothing was lost."

...

Fu Mansion Garden.

The old lady sat down on a chair and looked at Fu Chenlie, "Have you considered what I talked to you about?"

He countered, "What matter?"

The old lady snorted coldly, "Grandson, are you playing dumb with me?"

Fu Chenlie, hearing this tone from the old lady, seemed to think of something and frowned, "About having children?"

"Right."

"She is pregnant, will Wan Ning really come back?"

Instead of responding directly, the old lady asked him, "How many more times do you need me to confirm it?"

The man glanced towards a distant ginkgo tree whose leaves had begun to yellow, remembering the summer when Jiang Wan Ning smiled at him under that ginkgo tree, "Ah Lie, would you marry me?"

It was summer then, and the leaves were the hopeful green.

But now, the leaves had turned yellow with autumn.

Snapping out of his reverie, he laid down his harsh words, "Even if she is really pregnant, I will not love her."

With that, he walked away from the garden.

The old lady watched her grandson's departing figure, a smile forming at the corner of her lips, "Kid, you're still too naive. I don't believe I could be wrong. I'm waiting for you to slap your own face."

Just as she finished speaking, she heard some noise behind her and turned to see that a pot of clivia had been knocked off the flower stand.

She immediately asked, "Who's there?"

A figure hesitantly stepped forward.

The old lady's expression changed slightly, "What are you doing here? How much did you hear of what I said to your brother?"

"Not much, just heard brother saying he won't love someone."

"You better forget all about it. No one is allowed to speak of this!"

Fu Jiayue came over and knelt at the old lady's knees to help massage her legs, "I understand, Grandma. I'm your granddaughter, not an outsider. Are you still worried I would ruin brother and sister-in-law's relationship?"

...

Granny Fu let Wen Ran and Fu Chenlie stay for dinner at Fu Residence before letting them go.

Wen Ran walked out of Fu Residence hand in hand with Fu Chenlie.

It was late, and the residence was very quiet.

She unintentionally glanced at their shadows cast on the ground, hand in hand, and felt they looked quite well-matched.

Just as they stepped out of the main gate of Fu Residence, Wen Ran's hand was abruptly let go.

The action was ruthless and filled with hidden anger, setting off alarm bells in her, priming her for battle.

As expected—

Before they even got into the car, Fu Chenlie began to settle scores, his face cold as an ice sculpture as he questioned, "Who allowed you to call me 'husband' during lunch?"

"Weren't you the one who told me to play along? Did I not perform well?"

"Very well, continue calling me that at home to avoid any slip-ups when we come to Fu Residence."

With that, he strode away.

Wen Ran, "…"

What the hell?

She suspected Fu Chenlie was doing this to spite her.

Who would want to call someone 'husband' daily when facing a face full of disgust?!
