Just as she was about to ponder further, she saw Serena making a face at her, with her red lips slightly moving.

Elena's expression changed drastically as she immediately stood up from the sofa.

What Serena was mouthing was unmistakable: "You don't deserve to be my husband's mother!"

After the two had left, Elena clenched her fists tightly, seething with hatred.

Once in the car, Serena instructed Brandon to drive, then turned her head to look at Lucas.

Seeing his face so gloomy that it seemed to be dripping with ink, Serena quickly and gently tugged at the hem of his clothing.

"Husband, don't be angry, it's not worth it."

Lucas came back to his senses, pulling at the corner of his lips.

"I'm fine."

To say he didn't mind the repeated humiliation and mockery from his own mother would be a lie.

But Lucas had grown accustomed to it.

He simply couldn't understand why there were mothers as cold and cruel as Elena Ryan in the world.
