Chapter 401: Let Him Answer the Phone

Liam Shaw's temple throbbed violently, and he waved his hand dismissively, "You pick up. Just say he's tied up with something and can't come back. Tell Serena not to wait for him."

"Alright." Brandon Reese exhaled deeply before pressing the answer button.

"Brandon, where's Lucas? Why isn't he answering his phone?"

From the phone receiver came Serena Summers' soft and sweet voice, making Brandon's heart skip a beat.

He glanced toward the bed, guilt flickering in his eyes, "Madam, Lucas said he has work to take care of at the company. He won't be back tonight. He asked you to rest first."

As soon as he said this, unease gnawed at his heart.

His madam was not someone easy to fool.

If she found out he'd lied to her, it might mean another storm of fury.

Serena remained silent for a long time, her voice cooling ominously, "What exactly happened? I'll give you one last chance to explain clearly."

Lucas had never stayed out overnight; it was their agreed rule.
