"Chirp chirp chirp chirp." A message has arrived!
The plump little bird stretched out its prideful claw, flapped its wings twice, and chirped at Xining to announce the message.
Xining pushed the door open and quickly made her way to the balcony.
She retrieved the new letter from under the little bird's wing. Seeing the words on it made her heart suddenly tighten, and the cold gleam in her eyes deepened.
She handed the letter back to the little bird's beak, and it instantly leaned in, devouring the paper in a few swift bites.
"Chirp chirp chirp." I'm leaving now.
Watching it tilt its little head proudly, Xining rubbed its tiny body and said, "Fly fast, and be careful not to get caught. Or you might end up as roast bird."
Just as it flapped its wings to leave, the little bird seemed to understand her words and chirped at her several more times.
But Xining's mind had already been carried away by the message on the letter.
