"Mommy."
When Lin Qian appeared, Chu Ziyang's eyes lit up and he rushed straight to her, lifting his dark, shiny eyes to look at her.
Meeting her son's bright black eyes, Lin Qian felt an even stronger pang of guilt.
She pulled his small body into her arms, her fair, slender fingers ruffling his soft hair. Lowering her gaze, she said softly, "Ziyang, morning."
"Mommy, where were you last night? Why didn't you come home? I heard Dad's phone call. Were you with Mr. Yin?"
Chu Ziyang stared at Lin Qian, his dark eyes fixed unwaveringly on her.
Lin Qian's lips moved slightly, finding it difficult to speak, "Last night, I..."
"Ziyang, you're going to be late for school. Let Mrs. Xu take you there for now."
Xu Xinyi stepped forward, cutting in to help Lin Qian out of the situation.
Lin Qian let out a small breath of relief, curving her lips slightly in thanks towards Xu Xinyi. "Doctor Xu, sorry for troubling you."
Xu Xinyi shook her head and pulled Chu Ziyang away.
