James Thompson sat down right next to Julia Land.
Four people played mahjong.
After three rounds, they stopped.
They changed tables, and the waiter served dishes and alcohol.
Thomas Sullivan personally took the bottle and poured drinks for them, later, Secretary Land took over the task of pouring drinks.
When they chatted, Julia Land had no topics to join in.
"No need to pour any more, thank you," the man declined lazily.
Julia Land started to eat; she hadn't had her dinner yet that evening.
Occasionally she sipped from her glass, Julia Land noticed James Thompson's gaze on her.
She smiled and looked down.
James Thompson put down his chopsticks, leaned back in his chair, and his eyes swept over the colorful clothes that Julia Land was wearing.
They made her neck look even whiter.
Like a flowering peacock.
Julia Land didn't know James Thompson's thoughts about her.
She stopped eating when she was seventy percent full.
