Julia Land and James Thompson left the Morning Sun Bar but did not head straight home.
She had her bodyguard take Austin Langston home first.
Silently, she sat in the passenger seat.
James took the driver's seat.
He started the car, "Baby Julia."
He called out.
Julia looked out the window, blinking her slightly reddened eyes.
Thinking of Wesley Turner reminded her of the humiliation she felt that night, and the child not meant to be hers.
All she ever wanted was simple—
A stable home.
But sometimes, a stable home was hard to come by.
"Julia, look at me."
He stopped the car, his ink-dark eyes fixed on her.
Outside was the brilliant city lights, and inside was the silence between them.
Julia's lashes trembled as she turned her head, her gaze downward.
James sighed and unbuckled his seatbelt, leaning over with both hands cradling her face.
Julia asked hoarsely, "Look at what?"
