Chloe Sullivan dared to gamble with her life that Madame Bell would have a change of heart, precisely because she had once saved Madame Bell's life.
After the Bell couple left,
Chloe turned her head towards Maxwell Bell, her voice somewhat hoarse, "Arthur, it's trouble enough if you could call the servants to take care of me."
Maxwell Bell nodded. He wasn't good at comforting people, so he simply said, "It'll be better when you've come to terms with it. There's no hurdle too high to get over."
Although he still didn't know what exactly had happened, Chloe didn't tell his aunt and uncle, and he didn't take it upon himself to ask.
Maxwell Bell took out his phone and called the servants, planning to wait until they arrived before he left.
He pulled out a chair and sat down.
He was not a talkative person by nature, and Chloe, being weak, made the whole ward quiet.
"I'd like some water," Chloe said softly.
