"Assistant Winters, where has James Thompson gone?"
Julia Land softly inquired while eating the lunch that Jasper Winters had brought her.
She was sick, and as much as she knew Mr. Thompson, he wouldn't just disappear after leaving in the morning.
Something must have happened.
Jasper Winters touched his forehead with his hand, considering how to begin.
If he spoke now and the lady boss's health took a turn for the worse with the boss absent, the trouble could be significant.
Julia Land did not insist that Jasper Winters answer immediately; she forced herself to eat until she was seventy percent full before stopping.
Regardless, the first priority was to recover her health.
Jasper Winters quickly cleaned up the bowl and chopsticks.
It was then that Julia Land looked up at Jasper Winters, "Speak, don't worry about me."
Whatever was making Jasper Winters hesitate, she guessed, must be serious.
