Just as Maya Chant was angrily suspecting that something might have happened to Noah Quarter, the door to the study was pushed open without a knock.
Eleanor Thompson burst into the study like a cannonball, complaining in a spoilt tone, "Grandma, Brother broke Eleanor's bracelet!"
Eleanor Thompson pouted, stretching out a small hand, in the palm of which lay a delicate bracelet.
It wasn't actually broken, just dirty. It would be fine after a wash.
Tears shimmered in her eyes.
The look in Maya Chant's eyes suddenly turned fiercely resentful towards Eleanor Thompson, but she quickly suppressed her anger.
She forced a smile, "Eleanor, Grandma will take you to buy a new bracelet later, alright?"
Eleanor Thompson was still upset; she really liked the bracelet she had.
Maya Chant crouched down, gently stroked Eleanor Thompson's hair, and smiled, "Grandma will buy Eleanor a prettier bracelet, okay?"
Eleanor Thompson nodded, still a bit unhappy, but agreed, "Alright."
