Chapter 7 Daddy's Back!

Quinnie Doyle hesitated.

To say she wasn't moved would be a lie.

Her father, whom she hadn't seen in four years, was right in front of her, and she could stay by his side using the name Julian Hayes, provided he agreed.

She could rightfully call him "Daddy."

While Quinnie hesitated, Julian Hayes added another line on the tablet: "Don't worry, it will only take one day, I promise I'll give you back Mommy."

Quinnie shook her head: "I'm not afraid that you'll steal Mommy, but if we switch identities, Mommy will definitely notice, she has always been resistant to anything relating to Daddy, although I don't know what happened between them, I don't want to make Mommy the slightest bit unhappy."

She was afraid that if Mommy knew she had secretly sought out Daddy, Mommy would be upset.

And she was also afraid that once she stayed by Daddy's side, she wouldn't want to leave.

Hearing Quinnie say that, Julian looked a bit disappointed and nodded, then typed a new line on the tablet: "Okay, I understand."

Among the three kids, a brief silence fell.

Quiana Doyle plopped down on the sofa, chubby hands propping up her baby-fat cheeks, looking a bit depressed: "Ah, what do we do now? I really wish Daddy and Mommy could be together, then we would be a family of five."

Quinnie Doyle was silent for a while, her gaze fixed on Julian Hayes: "If, Daddy was the one who did something wrong in the past, causing Mommy to leave, would you be willing to leave with us?"

She was already preparing for the worst.

If Daddy really had wronged Mommy.

Then she would not hesitate to give up the idea of a family reunion, even if it was the Daddy she had fantasized about for four years.

Feeling Quinnie's gaze, Julian's brows furrowed slightly as he wrote on the tablet: "I don't think Daddy would do anything to wrong Mommy, I believe in Daddy."

The two young boys' eyes met in mid-air.

The atmosphere instantly solidified.

"Are you guys going to fight?" Quiana got up from the sofa, reached out, and took hold of her two brothers' hands: "We need to work together now to find out the reason Daddy and Mommy split up back then. Maybe they separated because of a misunderstanding, Quiana believes in Mommy, and in Daddy too!"

The atmosphere eased a little.

At the same time.

The office door handle turned slightly.

Someone was coming in.

Julian frowned and quickly wrote on the tablet: "Daddy's back!"

Outside.

Hugo Hayes lightly turned the doorknob.

His handsome face soon revealed a hint of surprise.

Was the door locked from the inside?

His assistant sensed something was wrong and immediately spoke up: "Elder Hayes, I'll go get the spare key right now!"

Hugo Hayes frowned and pulled out his phone to check the location.

Julian was in the office.

And judging by the range of movement on the location tracker, Julian was still active, with no signs of anything unusual.

Hugo Hayes instinctively treated it as Julian playing a game with him, curved his finger, and knocked directly on the door: "Julian, open the door."

There was no response from the room, nor the sound of footsteps approaching.

Hugo Hayes' expression finally darkened, and he glanced at his assistant: "Go get the spare key, now."

"Yes!"

The assistant was about to retrieve the key.

Then another quick-witted assistant came running breathlessly from the other end of the corridor: "Elder Hayes, the key is here!"

As the office door swung open.

Hugo Hayes's eyes locked onto the Julian inside the room, who was trying to piece together the laptop he'd split in two, momentarily at a loss for words: "…You didn't open the door because you were afraid I'd scold you?"

Julian's expression was "panicked," as he tried to hide the broken laptop behind his back.

Hugo Hayes fell silent.

His son had always been the child of someone else's family.

When did you learn to be so mischievous?

But seeing the tension on his son's face, Marcus Sharp didn't get angry. Instead, he walked over to Julian, gently touched his hair, and asked, "Did you hurt yourself?"

Hesitantly, Julian shook his head, looking up at Daddy with innocent eyes, "Daddy, are you not mad at me?"

"It's just a computer; it's not worth much." Marcus took away the broken computer and picked up Julian, who trembled like a frightened deer, "As long as you're okay, that's what matters."

Julian's half-open face rested on Marcus's shoulder, his little hands clutching Marcus tightly.

At that moment,

Marcus noticed another assistant who had been lying on the floor for God knows how long. He frowned and gave an order, "Take him away, and inform everyone he is not to come to work from now on."

He didn't need a useless subordinate as an assistant.

As the security carried the man away, the office regained its quiet.

Yet, there was a familiar yet strange scent in the air.

It was as if someone had been here.

Marcus sat on the sofa, his black eyes calmly looking at Julian, "Who was here just now?"

"…It was my friends," Julian replied nervously in sign language, "Daddy, if you're unhappy, I won't let them come to the company anymore."

"I'm glad you're making friends," Marcus's expression softened considerably, his voice much gentler than before, "If it makes you happy, you can invite them over to our house."

Julian's eyes instantly brightened, "Daddy, is that for real?"

His daddy had never brought strangers home to their house.

Julian had always known his daddy was a germophobe and didn't like strangers.

But this was different.

This was the first time Daddy had suggested he could bring friends home.

Julian got excited, thinking he could find a chance to have his younger brother and sister come over to play!

Seeing his excitement, Marcus smiled, lightly patting his son's head, "Yes, of course."

"Thank you, Daddy!" Julian replied in sign language.

Julian always had a nap time.

In the afternoon,

while Julian was napping, Marcus briefly reviewed the files on the mysterious Professor Doyle.

He was indeed a genius.

In just two years, he had swept all the major awards in the medical field.

Furthermore, every surgery Professor Doyle had been involved in had been a complete success without exception.

This included many highly challenging procedures.

But none of this proved that this so-called Professor Doyle had the ability to cure Julian's condition.

Looking up, Marcus glanced at Julian, now fast asleep.

The outside world knew that the young master of the Hayes Clan was born mute.

No one knew that it was a genetic defect that caused Julian to be this way.

If they couldn't control Julian's illness any longer, the consequences that would follow...

Marcus's expression turned stern.

Since those so-called top experts in the world had no cure, he wasn't against trying to bring in Professor Doyle.

Right away,

Marcus called Flynn Zimmerman, "Have you found a doctor yet?"

After a brief silence on the phone, Flynn steeled himself and said, "…Elder Hayes, I'm sorry… the professor's travel information has been concealed, we've yet to locate him…"

Marcus's expression grew cold again, "I'll handle it personally."

"Elder Hayes, you—you're saying you'll conduct the investigation personally?!" Over the phone, Flynn was thoroughly excited, "Elder Hayes, I'll be waiting for your good news!"

Soon,

key information about the enigmatic Professor Doyle appeared on Marcus Sharp's computer screen.
