On the phone, no one spoke.
Quinnie Doyle's originally icy face grew even icier, "I'm Quinnie Doyle, your son. If you don't believe me, I can provide a paternity test for you."
Still, silence was all that came from the other end of the line.
Quinnie became even angrier, "I'm just going to ask you one thing. What's the deal with you and my mom? Four years ago, did you force my mom to get pregnant?"
Silence persisted.
Just as Quinnie was about to explode with rage, Quiana Doyle, who was guarding by his side, clutched the phone and exclaimed, "Brother! Julian sent a message! He said, Dad left his phone behind, and now it's with him."
Quinnie Doyle, "..."
In other words, the person on the other end of their call wasn't Hugo Hayes; it was their older brother, Julian Hayes.
Meanwhile, outside the second bedroom, Ellie Doyle's languid voice drifted in, "Quinnie, Quiana, aren't you asleep yet?"
The siblings exchanged looks, quickly hung up the phone, and feigned sleep.
