Before Lu Qianrou posted this apology on Weibo, the whole internet had almost cursed her to death.
Netizens criticized her for two main reasons.
First, it clearly wasn't Lu Qianrou who saved the person, yet her TikTok post was vague and didn't firmly deny it; second, she knew the Mayor's Wife was also mistaken, yet she acted in front of the camera as if she really was the one who saved the person.
She was utterly manipulative and extremely hypocritical.
But once this Weibo post was released, things changed.
In these few hundred words, Lu Qianrou first apologized to netizens right off the bat, expressing her attitude and calming their anger.
Then, she explained the two issues.
First, she didn't intend to impersonate someone else, she clarified on TikTok right away when she saw the news last night, but unexpectedly, everyone didn't believe her.
Thus, being seen as manipulative turned into being criticized for imprecise expression in her text, which led to the misunderstanding.
