Pei Mansion.
Elder Pei arrived home at seven o'clock to find Elder Madam Pei already sitting at the dining table. Spotting him, her eyes and brows turned cold as she said, "You've gone out early to court anger, haven't you?"
Elder Pei knew he couldn't keep anything from his wife and replied indifferently, "If I were that easily angered, this whole family would have driven me to an early grave by now."
"What did that wretched girl say?" Elder Madam Pei didn't touch her utensils but asked first.
"It wasn't pleasant," Elder Pei shook his head. "I can't even repeat those words to you."
"What could be so unspeakable? Spit it out."
Elder Pei had no choice but to reply, "She said her grandfather had done favors for me, and I should repay him by marrying him. Hence, she encouraged me to divorce you."
"Ha! She's beyond disrespectful and utterly uncultured," Elder Madam Pei scoffed coldly. "Who does she think she is?"
