Violet Don's designs were a huge success, and in conjunction with the merchant's advertising, countless socialites had already placed orders for their own custom versions even before they were available in stores. After transferring Violet's share of the profits into her account, President Cox immediately made a phone call—
"Miss Don, I am truly grateful for your collaborative design with our company. I wonder if you are free tonight to come out for a meal."
President Cox was very polite and even provided the address; Violet did not refuse. Even though his son had once wronged her, when she saw how Cox never stopped apologizing for his son's foolish behavior, icing on thoughts of the few strands of white hair on his forehead, she couldn't help feeling somewhat sympathetic.
So, she agreed to meet that evening. After hanging up, Violet started to pick out her clothes.
