Raditz is a complex character. As the son of a low-class warrior, he managed to rise to the status of an elite warrior, a fact he took great pride in.
In his mission to maintain this elite status, he often seemed to focus more on it as a way to mask his low-class origins. He even adopted attitudes and behaviors that he believed were more befitting of an expert.
In the original story, as he spent more time with Vegeta and especially Nappa, Raditz's actions and principles began to mirror Nappa's almost exactly.
However, that was in the original narrative.
The current Raditz, while still somewhat unlikable, was only mildly unpleasant. He wasn't excessively harsh.
So, after Bardock's request, Jiang Chen thought for a moment and agreed to help.
The next day, Jiang Chen began training Raditz.
Bardock had specifically brought back a ten-times gravity training bracelet from the logistics center.
"Aspara, for now, Raditz is under your care. I need to gather with the others today, and I believe we'll soon be heading out on a mission," Bardock said quietly.
"I understand, Bardock Oji San!" Jiang Chen replied with a smile and a nod.
"Raditz, I've arranged a one-year leave for you with King Vegeta. This year, focus on training with Aspara. Remember to listen to him. If I come back and you're still like this, I'll send you straight to Vampa."
After seeing Jiang Chen nod, Bardock let out a sigh of relief before looking at Raditz with a serious expression.
"I got it, Dad!" Raditz replied though the mention of Vampa made him shudder. He had heard stories about how desolate that planet was.
"I'm leaving now. Aspara, I'm entrusting Raditz to you," Bardock said before taking off into the sky.
"Raditz, let's set the gravity bracelet to double the gravity!" Jiang Chen said, turning to Raditz with a smile.
Raditz sneered but quickly began adjusting the settings.
As soon as the gravity bracelet activated—
'Thud!'
Raditz stumbled and crashed to the ground.
"So heavy!" He exclaimed, his eyes widening in disbelief. It felt as if every cell in his body was about to explode, and his veins felt like they were being crushed.
With great effort, Raditz managed to get back on his feet, his body still trembling. Even walking a single step was a struggle.
"Y-you're also on double gravity?" Raditz asked, his voice heavy with disbelief as he looked at Jiang Chen.
"No," Jiang Chen replied, shaking his head.
Upon hearing this, Raditz let out a breath of relief but quickly became frustrated.
Before he could voice his anger, Jiang Chen spoke again.
"I just recently increased to three times gravity."
His words were casual, but the content made Raditz's eyes widen in shock.
Double gravity was already nearly unbearable for him, and the thought of three times gravity was unimaginable.
"You—" Raditz instinctively opened his mouth but didn't know what to say.
"Raditz, for this month, you should focus on getting used to double gravity," Jiang Chen instructed. "You can try to control your body under double gravity, just like I do."
Jiang Chen didn't pay much attention to Raditz's shock. Since he had agreed to help Bardock train Raditz, he wasn't going to take it lightly.
In the open space, Jiang Chen continued his training while also teaching Raditz at the same time.
He also advanced further in mastering the technology of the Power Ball (Artificial Moon) Technique.
His learning aptitude was indeed quite good.
By the third month after Bardock's departure, Jiang Chen had fully mastered the Power Ball (Artificial Moon) Technique technology.
Though the duration he could maintain it was still relatively short— just under fifteen minutes— this was due to his energy not being strong enough yet. As time went on and his internal energy grew, the duration he could maintain the Power Ball (Artificial Moon) Technique would continue to increase.
Aside from the Power Ball (Artificial Moon) Technique, Jiang Chen's power level was also growing significantly.
Especially after he turned six, his strength visibly improved.
When Bardock had just left, his battle power was 220. After the first month, it increased to 235, a boost of 15 points. By the second month, his battle power reached 260, an increase of 25 points. By the third month, his battle power officially broke 300, reaching 310 points.
At this rate, Jiang Chen estimated that within a year, his battle power would surpass 500, and it might happen even sooner.
Not only Jiang Chen, but Raditz, due to his age, was also progressing quickly.
Originally with a battle power of 210, Raditz broke through to 220 after the first month, reached 250 by the second month, and by the third month, his battle power had reached 270.
This was despite Raditz's relatively short training time. Otherwise, his power would have grown even more rapidly.
Of course, compared to his improvement in power, Raditz's progress with the Power Ball (Artificial Moon) Technique was much slower.
After three months, Raditz had barely made any progress, even less than Jiang Chen had at the beginning.
Clearly, Raditz's aptitude for learning was not particularly strong.
This was evident in his control over energy. Although Jiang Chen's control was not yet systematic and only scattered, even with that, Raditz had failed to grasp it after three months of training.
However, these weren't insurmountable problems.
As long as Raditz survived, there would be plenty of opportunities for him to improve in the future.
Right now, enhancing their power is the most important task.
As the two continued their training, time quietly passed by.
In the blink of an eye, a year had passed.
By this time, Jiang Chen was seven years old on Planet Vegeta, and Raditz had reached eleven years old.
This year had undoubtedly been a period of rapid growth for both of them.
Even though Jiang Chen didn't increase the gravity again, his battle power had risen from 220 to 675.
Raditz's improvement was also very noticeable, going from 210 to 413.
Though Raditz's increase was smaller, at this battle power, he had already surpassed most of the elite warriors and was close to catching up with some of the lower elite warriors.
After all, for Saiyans, their battle power typically increases from the age of 18, peaking around 50. For most elite warriors, reaching 500 before the age of 16 was a challenge.
(Raditz's slower progress was due to his weaker aptitude for learning energy control. Even though the protagonist doesn't have systematic control of energy, his grasp on it is not weak. More importantly, the protagonist lacks the brutal Saiyan nature, so his S-cells grow faster, leading to faster growth.)
