"Mom," Little Ella hugged Yolanda Greenwood tightly. Although she didn't feel pain, she vaguely sensed her injury was worse this time. She lowered her head and answered softly, "I can't stand up."
The color drained from Yolanda Greenwood's face instantly. She steadied herself before gently comforting, "Ella, don't be scared. It's okay. Mom will take you to the hospital now, everything will be alright."
She stood up hurriedly and almost stumbled.
"It's okay, it's okay." This was meant to reassure Little Ella, and herself too.
"Mom, don't cry. Ella's not scared." Little Ella used her small hand to wipe Yolanda Greenwood's face.
Yolanda Greenwood was momentarily stunned, unaware that she had cried. She gently kissed Little Ella, "Ella, be good."
She was truly terrified, but seeing her daughter being so brave, she felt much calmer herself. She stood up and quickly took Little Ella to the hospital.
