Heavenly Asura Path 26

Chapter 26: Hell's Path (1)

Looking at the narrow path in front of him, Percy frowned slightly. Such a path was too small, it would only admit a single person, but even then it seemed too narrow. It would barely allow him to move comfortably and falling would definitely lead to his death. His eyes, even if they were much better than before, still did not allow him to see beyond the terrifying darkness that enveloped the entire place.

Percy took a step forward. At this point, turning back was pointless; he could only go forward, advance on the path of hell and reach the place where his second Asura God test would begin.

Step by step, he walked down the narrow path, counting each step he took and constantly looking at his surroundings while using spiritual power to be able to detect anything outside his range of vision.

One hundred steps... two hundred steps... three hundred steps.

Percy continued down the path, but when he counted two hundred and forty steps, he sensed several presences ahead of him. His forehead was now sweating from a sudden heat coming from the bottom of the abyss below him.

Suddenly, sounds could be heard in the distance from ahead. Before long, as he moved forward a little further, Percy could notice bats flying towards him. Unlike normal bats, these were blood red, and in very large numbers. Small, scarlet eyes approached from the darkness as sharp fangs showed and created annoying screeches.

Seeing this, Percy immediately summoned Anaklusmos. His killing intent manifested in a scarlet haze, attempting to intimidate the small beasts. However, it did nothing. The scarlet eyes looked at him intelligently as the sound of wings fluttered around him now.

Frowning, Percy didn't know what to do at this moment. He knew perfectly well that bats were a bit special when it came to detecting movements thanks to ultrasound. Even if he tried to attack by surprise, it would be of no use. The only thing that could affect them would be a domain.

Domains were special things even among spirit masters, they couldn't be obtained through training alone. Generally, a domain was obtained through a bloodline or the inheritance tests of a god. Also, there were some martial spirits that could awaken a domain, but these were few and of a high level. Anaklusmos could only awaken a domain when Percy reached level 71, which meant he was missing a level and a spirit ring.

When using a domain, it would interfere within a certain range of the spirit master; generally, increasing the power of the user and decreasing that of enemies. A perfect example was the death god domain obtained by completing the path of hell.

The death god domain provides an imposing form formed by pressure from killing intent that can leave opponents unable to display their full strength, but the user themselves can display one hundred and twenty percent of their strength. With the growth of the spirit, the ratio of weakening the opponent and strengthening themselves will also increase.

So, at this moment, Percy could only improvise.

"*Sigh*…", letting out a sigh, Percy closed his eyes as he muttered, "How annoying."

Percy concentrated as he released all of his killing intent. This killing intent was no longer just the one he obtained in the city of slaughter, it also mixed all of the killing intent, his desires to kill the Olympian gods, his memories of Tartarus, and the horror that permeated his body that came from that place.

When Percy opened his eyes, anyone who had been in front of him would go mad. The killing intent spread out like an unstoppable and horrendous mist, at the same time his eyes seemed to show the horrors of Tartarus and the evils of humanity.

When the bats sensed all of this, they staggered as they shrieked in pain. The killing intent accompanied by the mental attack through their memories caused their senses to lose themselves and fall downwards.

Seeing the result, Percy nodded to himself. But at the same time, he felt conflicted with himself. Ever since his heart had slowly started to heal thanks to Liu Erlong and the calmer environment on this planet, Percy was a little surprised by how much had changed. Before, he would have been hesitant to use things like killing intent or killing. In fact, he would have even hesitated to kill the most disgusting criminal.

Now however, he didn't care about killing; he didn't care what people thought of him. No, that was a lie, there were some people like his mother, Paul and Liu Erlong, that Percy did care about what they thought of him.

"What am I thinking about right now?" Percy frowned before shaking his head.

"There's no point in thinking about this kind of thing anymore, especially at this time."

Deciding to move forward, Percy carefully looked at the remaining bats that were still swaying in the air as they stared at him. However, they didn't attack, nor did they approach, they simply decided to watch as Percy moved forward.

Suddenly, the place lit up slightly with a red color, similar to how a flame illuminated a dark place. Looking down, Percy blinked as he could now see clearly.

"A lake of blood..." Percy's lips twisted, he looked at what was below him. It was a huge lake with a red liquid like lava. Of course, it wasn't lava, just the smell would make people realize that it was boiling blood, a bunch of hot blood that filled a huge hole.

"This should be all the blood collected from the city of slaughter since its birth," Percy muttered with a frown. Even if he thought it was a good thing that the city existed due to its function as a prison, seeing such a huge amount of blood was, without a doubt, a surprise.

"HEY!" Suddenly, alerted by a movement on the narrow path, Percy looked ahead, noticing a golden light that seemed to shine beneath the path. When he squinted a little, he noticed two large, enormous claws clamped onto the path. When he looked under the bridge, he noticed in disbelief the beast hanging down.

It was a bat, but very different from the small, red ones that appeared a little while ago.

The body of this big boy was about four meters long. Its legs had the diameter of over a meter and its large wings wrapped around its body and head.

"Shit!" Percy exclaimed as the bats he had left behind appeared once again. They flew hard and struck his body. The damage was minimal, almost non-existent, but they still destabilized him as they flew towards the huge bat.

With a huge screech, the wings that wrapped around the large bat, opened up forcefully, showing its entire body.

"When the younger brothers can't, the older brother appears, huh?" Percy commented as he looked in dismay at the new enemy. The bat could be considered giant, with a total of ten meters of wingspan, a dark body that seemed to emit a faint golden glow, but the scariest thing was the top.

There wasn't one head… There were three!

Three dark gold colored heads, and all eyes looked towards Percy as the small bats shrieked behind the winged horror.

With a huge screech, waves of red color shot out from the bat's mouth, spreading like waves towards Percy. At that moment, the ground between the three-headed golden bat and Percy began to crumble into gravel.

Gritting his teeth, Percy rushed forward without waiting a single second longer. From his experience, one should never destroy a multi-headed beast using the one-by-one method. That could only bring disaster. Therefore, the best option with this type of beast, was to simply destroy all the heads at the same time.

Also, he couldn't use his spiritual abilities right now. Because if he could, he would have used his fifth spiritual ability: Saber Above the Sky. This spiritual ability allowed him to control his saber from a distance, to the point where he could even fly while standing on it.

Sadly, he couldn't do such a thing.

So, he used another method.

Jumping on the heads of the dark golden three-headed bat!

"Ugly bastard!" shouting angrily, Percy landed while using the force in his feet to cause a bit of damage upon landing.

But the battle was just beginning.
