Zhiluo Tang turned around, "What's wrong?"
"Keep the card," Mo Xun placed the card into her palm, "Grandma gave it to you, so it's yours now."
Since Old Mrs. Mo insisted on giving it, then it belonged to her.
Zhiluo Tang was stunned, her voice soft, "Grandma is so old, she has no earning ability anymore, I feel bad taking it."
Mo Xun didn't speak.
Old Mrs. Mo had shares in the company, more money than she could ever spend.
"Let's do this; you keep the card. If grandma needs money in the future, you give the card to her," Zhiluo Tang insisted on leaving the card with Mo Xun.
Mo Xun's gaze was complex and opaque.
Wasn't she very fond of money?
Shouldn't she be rushing to check how much balance was on this card the moment she got it?
To test her, Mo Xun deliberately took the card back, his grey eyes harboring deep implications, "Alright, then I'll keep it here."
Zhiluo Tang didn't overthink it, "I'm going to get ready for work."
She returned to her room to change clothes.
Mo Xun watched her departing figure, his expression reflective and somewhat thoughtful.
*
Mo Xun descended the stairs, and at the entrance of the residential area was parked a Maserati.
"Mr. Mo!"
His assistant, Mu Jiu, opened the car door for him.
Mo Xun bent over to get in, picked up the divorce agreement next to him for a glance, then put it back down and switched to looking at a business contract.
He had drunk too much last night and forgotten the divorce agreement in the car.
He would give it to her tonight; since he had decided on divorce, there was no point in dragging it out.
His mobile phone rang.
Mo Xun glanced at it, Old Mrs. Mo was calling.
"Hello, Grandma," the man picked up.
"Mo Xun, I'm picking out jewelry for my granddaughter-in-law, what do you say I should give her? Does she like jade?" Old Mrs. Mo, accompanied by the owner of the jewelry company, meticulously inspected the collection of treasures not open to ordinary customers.
Mo Xun rubbed his brow, resignedly saying, "Haven't I already told you? Don't get involved in this matter."
"You married her and wouldn't even buy her a piece of jewelry. If word gets out, wouldn't they say the Mo Family has no manners?"
"It's not like what you think between her and me," Mo Xun frowned.
Their marriage was contractual, not a traditional wedding.
"Zhiluo is a good girl, Grandma can tell. She's nice, filial, and caring. Mo Xun, we can't be so harsh. Since you've married her, you must make up for all the proper rites..."
Mo Xun pursed his lips.
At that moment, a girl carrying a lunch box walked out of the residential area entrance.
It was his wife, Zhiluo Tang.
Zhiluo Tang walked into the sunlight, her face under the long curls pure and radiant. She seemed in a good mood, humming a tune, her lips upturned.
Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks, looking over to the Maserati across the road.
The car window was a dark navy blue, very dim.
Zhiluo Tang could only faintly see a man sitting inside, tall and commanding.
His profile somewhat resembled her husband?
But she wouldn't mistake the man in this luxury car for her husband; her husband was just a manager; how could he afford such an extravagant car?
Yet, her husband Mo Xun was sitting in the car.
Just now, upon making eye contact, Mo Xun felt a slight panic, afraid to be exposed.
When they first met, Mo Xun drove a BMW, so Zhiluo Tang didn't know that Mo Xun's usual car was actually this multi-million-dollar Maserati.
Without giving it much thought, she walked away from the residential area with long strides.
"Mo Xun? Can you hear me? If you don't speak, I'm buying jade for Zhiluo," Old Mrs. Mo was still talking on the phone.
"Buy diamonds," Mo Xun suddenly replied, his gaze fixed on the distant Zhiluo Tang.
She had a great figure, curvaceous, and as she walked down the street, she immediately attracted lewd whistles from men.
Mo Xun frowned slightly, and then he saw his wife lift her hand and smashed her small shoulder bag into the face of the lewd man, causing him to howl in agony.
A predatory glint flickered through Mo Xun's eyes.
This wife of his was quite interesting.
Label her as gentle, she was fierce, call her smart, she was constantly playing the fool.
"Then I'll buy diamonds, Mo Xun, what color diamonds does Zhiluo like?" Old Mrs. Mo asked over the phone.
The grandson seemed distracted and who knew what he was doing!
Mo Xun said indifferently, "Just buy ordinary diamonds, according to her spending level, don't buy anything too expensive."
"How much is not too expensive? Is a set of jewelry around ten million alright?"
Mo Xun pressed his forehead, "A set of a hundred thousand or so is fine."
"What? Just a hundred thousand?" Old Mrs. Mo thought she heard wrong and was a bit upset, "Isn't that too stingy? Regardless, it's meant for my granddaughter-in-law's dowry!"
"What's a dowry?" Mo Xun didn't understand.
Old Mrs. Mo said proudly, "It's the wedding tradition, to give bridal gifts, including the dowry."
She had just given her granddaughter-in-law the bridal gifts; not much, but when she moved into the mansion, it could be supplemented.
As for the dowry, she was picking it out now!
Mo Xun, powerless, "Grandma, as I've told you, I'm testing her, don't break the rules, just buy a set worth a hundred thousand or so."
"I can't bring myself to give that!" Old Mrs. Mo was nearly fuming, the respected Mo Family giving only a set of a hundred thousand jewelry as dowry to the granddaughter-in-law? Wouldn't people laugh their heads off if word spread?
"If you can't bring yourself to give it, then don't," Mo Xun had no desire to argue with the old woman anymore, and he hung up the phone.
Old Mrs. Mo's face darkened, complaining to Mrs. Gui beside her, "That damned boy, daring to hang up on me, I'll deal with him when I go to the company later!"
"Yes, yes, yes!" Mrs. Gui was an old servant, well aware of Old Mrs. Mo's temper, and she comforted her on the side, "Old Mrs. Mo, what did the young master just say?"
"He said a set of a hundred thousand jewelry would suffice, otherwise don't bother giving it! Can you believe that!" Old Mrs. Mo gnashed her teeth.
Mrs. Gui suggested, "How about this, you buy two sets, one as the young master wishes to give to Young Mrs., and another as you desire. When we later bring Young Mrs. back to the mansion, give it to her as a welcome home gift..."
Old Mrs. Mo listened and thought it made sense!
Pleased, she picked out a set of jewelry worth a hundred thousand from the jewelry company owner's introduction and another jade piece worth several hundred million.
It only took Zhiluo Tang a few minutes to reach the subway station.
Xinghe Bank was right above the subway, with a shopping mall five levels down, making travel very convenient.
That was why properties at Xinghe Bank cost tens of thousands per square meter, surrounded by a hospital and primary and secondary schools within a kilometer radius, a prime location in the school district.
