"Mo Xun, I just wanted to use the lease agreement of this apartment to help my niece with her schooling. If you don't want to, you could have just said so nicely. I wouldn't have forced you. Why do you have to treat me with such an attitude?"
Mo Xun frowned.
Standing there, Tang Zhiluo appeared fragile but spoke with resonance and strength, "I am your wife, not your subordinate, nor your enemy. I have always been pleasant and cordial towards you, but you have shown me no respect. The same goes for my sister. It's rare for my sister to visit, yet you've ignored her twice."
"Mo Xun, if I treated your grandmother the way you treated my sister today, would that sit well with you?"
Mo Xun's lips thinned.
"I've treated your family as my own, but you haven't done the same for me," Tang Zhiluo took a deep breath, "Mo Xun, you have not done well at all."
She had her temper too.
But because she saw Mo Xun as family, she wouldn't take out her bad temper on him.
Having said that, she turned and went back to her room.
Mo Xun's expression turned cold, and he pushed open the door of her room, standing outside, towering over her as he stared down at her, "How have I not done well? Explain to me."
There were no lights on in the second bedroom.
One stood in the darkness, the other in the light. Mo Xun clutched her delicate arm to stop her from leaving.
Tang Zhiluo's eyelashes drooped in the shadows.
Mo Xun looked at her coldly, "Have I not fulfilled my duties as a husband?"
Giving her a place to live, clothes to wear, what could she be dissatisfied with?
"We've been married for three months, and you've come back less than 5 times, each time drunk, and every time it's been me taking care of you. Mo Xun, do you even regard this place as a home or just a hotel? You know in your heart." She answered methodically, lifting her lashes, eyes red.
She had always felt indebted to Mo Xun and wanted to treat him well, but he was too harsh today. Tang Zhiluo was not a girl without dignity.
Tonight, she showed her sharp claws for the first time.
Mo Xun felt she was more lively than before.
He pursed his lips and his tone softened, "You just mentioned wanting to borrow the lease agreement to get your niece into elementary school?"
Tang Zhiluo was stunned.
How did the topic switch back to this?
"You want to borrow it, just borrow it," Mo Xun responded indifferently, "But the key elementary school near Xinghe Bank is not that easy to get into."
He really hadn't done well regarding the two points she mentioned earlier.
Remembering her attitude towards his grandmother, he indeed hadn't shown respect to her sister, nor had he treated this place like home.
"You're willing to lend it?" Tang Zhiluo was a bit puzzled.
He was so fierce just now, why had his attitude changed so sharply all of a sudden?
"Mm, I drank too much earlier, and I was too abrupt," Mo Xun admitted stiffly. He wasn't the kind of person who thought too highly of himself. Watching her was like trying to decipher the emotion in the depths of her eyes.
Her eyes were clear, with grievances and sadness, but without any trace of scheming or resentment.
She can't be suffering from a brother complex, can she?
If she were, she probably would've used divorce to threaten him by now.
Maybe he misunderstood her?
"Was it because my sister talked about the house in the living room earlier that you heard?" Tang Zhiluo asked him.
She wasn't sure, but she still felt a need to clarify.
"Mo Xun, this apartment is yours, and I never coveted it. If you are tired of me, you can just tell me. I would leave and act as if we had never met. However, I hope you don't misunderstand me. I'm not that kind of person."
When Mo Xun took her in, she was penniless, but now she had recovered and saved tens of thousands. If Mo Xun really found her repulsive, she would just move out.
Mo Xun was silent, not speaking.
"It's past midnight. Let's rest early. I have to work tomorrow too," Tang Zhiluo stood at the door, looking at Mo Xun.
Mo Xun glanced at her, her emotions had calmed down.
He didn't say anything more.
He returned to the master bedroom and turned on the light.
The divorce agreement was still lying on the bed.
Mo Xun loosened his tie and picked it up.
In his mind, he inexplicably thought of Tang Zhiluo's words: "If you are tired of me, you can tell me, I will leave this place as if we had never known each other..."
Her words, earnestly spoken.
Mo Xun pondered for a moment and then tossed the divorce agreement into the drawer of the bedside table.
Forget it, let's not divorce for now. He'd test her a bit more.
"Ding dong—!"
Early in the morning, Tang Zhiluo was watering the vegetables on the balcony when someone rang the doorbell.
Tang Zhiluo opened the door.
Old Mrs. Mo and Mrs. Gui stood outside, carrying an exquisite gift bag that looked like a present.
"Grandma!" Tang Zhiluo called out sweetly.
She had a little disagreement with Mo Xun last night, but it had been resolved, so her mood wasn't too bad.
"Watering the flowers, huh?" Old Mrs. Mo asked, noticing the watering can in her hands.
"No, Grandma, it's vegetables. I planted some myself," Tang Zhiluo ushered Old Mrs. Mo in.
Grandma had mentioned she'd come over this morning, so Tang Zhiluo had cleaned the house early on, brewed a pot of tea, making things bright and neat.
"You know how to garden?" Old Mrs. Mo seemed pleasantly surprised, stepped out onto the balcony to take a look, and exclaimed in admiration, "Wow, Zhiluo, the vegetables you've grown are really good."
Mrs. Gui added, "Old Mrs. Mo also enjoys gardening. Vegetables, fruits, flowers, they're all her favorites. We have a Flower Gardens at home."
"Flower Gardens?" Tang Zhiluo was surprised. Such a garden must cover a vast area, right?
"Grandma, is your Flower Gardens located in your hometown?" Land in South City was incredibly valuable, almost impossible to use for a garden of flowers.
"Ah yes, yes, yes!" Old Mrs. Mo was about to let something slip but quickly agreed.
The Mo Family lived in a manor on the outskirts, with dedicated vegetable and flower gardens usually maintained by professionals. Old Mrs. Mo visited every few days. She was a plant expert in her youth and sometimes went down to the fields herself to plant fruits and vegetables. She never expected her granddaughter-in-law to share her hobby; they were truly kindred spirits!
The two of them chatted on the balcony.
Mo Xun was buttoning his wristwatch as he walked out of the room, saying, "Tang Zhiluo, I can't find my tie clip. Help me look for it."
He really didn't like his tie fluttering around.
"Ah? Your tie clip is missing!" Tang Zhiluo said to Old Mrs. Mo, "I'll go help Mo Xun look for it. Grandma, please rest on the sofa for a while."
Tang Zhiluo ran into Mo Xun's room to find the tie clip.
Mo Xun stood in the living room, facing off with Old Mrs. Mo.
"Grandma, why are you here again?" Seeing Old Mrs. Mo gave Mo Xun a headache.
