By bedtime, Lucas behaved well without any resistance, and was led by Su Jinqi to the room next to hers—an intentional choice not to let him go upstairs alone. The room was decorated in a style suited for a boy.
"Lucas, tonight you'll be sleeping by yourself. I hope you can sleep through till morning," Su Jinqi encouraged him.
Lying in the bedding, Lucas sensibly said, "Qiqi, I am brave and not afraid. But, may I sleep with the table lamp on?"
"Mhm, you may," Su Jinqi said as she kissed his little forehead, "Good night, sweet dreams."
"Qiqi, good night," Lucas said, and then closed his eyes.
Su Jinqi gently closed the door and, feeling unsure, stood outside quietly listening for a while. Confirming there was no sound inside, she then returned to her room.
"Is he asleep?" Li Jinghan asked.
"Mhm, such a good boy," Su Jinqi climbed onto the bed and got under the covers.
