Alexander sat on his bed, having been woken up in the middle of the night by his father. Seeing the way his dad was looking at him, he spoke in a tone that betrayed the fact that he had just been asleep moments ago.
"Is everything okay? Is it the company?"
When his father didn't answer, Alexander, now more confused, continued.
"No, it can't be the company… Is it Mother?"
Still, his father remained silent.
"Or is it Stephanie?"
Cassius shook his head. "No, it's none of that. You run the company now—you should know how well it's doing despite the restructuring."
Seeing Alexander about to speak, he continued, "And it's not your mother or your sister. They're both fine."
Alexander stared at him. "Then what's the problem, Dad?"
Cassius sighed. "Well… your uncle was just here."
Hearing that, Alexander's brows furrowed. His father continued, "He asked me about letting your cousin Desmond come work at the company."
