Chapter 83- New Manager unlocked

"Should we ring the doorbell?" asked Hinata.

"This is an apartment building... we'd probably need to know her apartment number..." said Kageyama thoughtfully.

"OH, YOU'RE ALREADY HERE! DID I MAKE YOU WAIT TOO LONG?" asked Yachi, looking worried.

"Nah, we just got here, and it's no problem at all! We're not bothering you on a Sunday morning, are we?" said Hinata, glancing at the clock, which showed 10 a.m.

"It's fine... come on in!" said Yachi as she opened the building's gate.

"We could take the elevator, but since I only live on the second floor, I usually don't bother," said Yachi, leading the way to the stairs. After climbing up, she opened a door in the middle of a hallway lined with several other doors.

"Mom, I brought some classmates over to study!" said Yachi as she approached a woman who seemed to be writing or drawing something on paper at a desk.

"Hmm... you must be from the Karasuno volleyball club that Hitoka told me about... I'm Madoka Yachi," said the woman, scrutinizing the two.

"Yes! Thank you for having us, Madoka-san!" said Hinata, bowing and forcing Kageyama to bow as well.

"I see. It looks like you're working hard on your studies," observed Madoka.

"Of course! We all need to get good grades if we want to go to Tokyo and play against strong teams there. By the way, I hope your daughter can come with us," said Hinata casually.

"Tokyo?" asked Madoka, looking at Yachi, who shrunk back.

"I'll explain it to you later," said Yachi as she pushed the two boys into the living room.

"So, Kageyama-kun... from what I understand, you're having trouble with reading comprehension!" said Yachi as she sat down.

"Yeah... there are some words I don't understand sometimes," said Kageyama, sitting down and flipping through his notebook.

"Like I said, it's because some words can have different meanings depending on the context, which can completely change the meaning of a sentence if used incorrectly!" explained Hinata.

"Well, here's my notebook... I made a summary of those kinds of words and vocabulary you might need..." said Yachi, handing over her notebook.

"Oh... this looks really thorough!" said Kageyama, impressed, as he quickly started copying what was in Yachi's notebook into his own.

"But don't forget what I said—the key is interpretation. You have to go beyond the text and look for the meaning. If you just memorize everything, it won't work!" warned Hinata.

"I get it already!" said Kageyama, annoyed.

"Hmm... Hinata, can I talk to you while Kageyama-kun is busy?" asked Yachi, looking a bit anxious.

"Sure," replied Hinata.

"So, I'm not entirely sure about joining the club. I don't know if I have the determination you guys have, and I might not fit in or end up doing something wrong," said Yachi.

"Hmm... I don't think that's a problem!" said Hinata thoughtfully, resting his chin on his hand.

"Actually, you don't need to worry so much because you'll have Kiyoko-san as your mentor, so making mistakes shouldn't be a concern. As for determination... I'm sure you'll find it once you understand what volleyball can give you—the team moments, the victories, and even the defeats. All of that will make you fall in love with volleyball," said Hinata sincerely.

"Do you really think I can do all that?" asked Yachi.

"I believe so, but in the end, all that matters is whether you want to do it. Is your hesitation because of your mom?" asked Hinata.

"Yes..." said the girl, looking down.

"Then, like I said, if you want to do this, just talk to her!" said Hinata, trying to encourage her.

"Okay! I'll do it!" said Yachi as she headed to where her mom was.

"MOM!" shouted Yachi.

"Yes?" said Madoka, a mix of confusion and surprise on her face.

"I'VE DECIDED I'M GOING TO BE THE VOLLEYBALL CLUB'S MANAGER!" shouted Yachi.

"That's fine, dear!... but you don't have to shout. It's still morning, and we might get a noise complaint," replied Madoka.

"Okay!" said Yachi as she started heading back to where Hinata and Kageyama were, only to hear her mom call her again.

"But we'll need to discuss this Tokyo thing more later!" warned Madoka with a stern look.

"Got it," said Yachi, nodding, before walking back to Hinata.

"Did you do it?" asked Hinata.

"Yes! I told her!" replied Yachi with a smile.

"That's great! So now you're part of the Karasuno volleyball club, the team with the most talented players in the country!" announced Hinata.

"Is that what you're called?" asked Yachi.

"Of course not! He's just making that up!" said Kageyama, still writing.

After studying for a while, Hinata and Kageyama got ready to leave.

"Are you sure you don't want to stay for lunch? We're going to order food," offered Madoka.

"No, thank you so much, but we don't want to cause any more trouble. We're heading out!" said Hinata as he left the house.

"See you later!" said Kageyama, following Hinata.

"Wait! Did you grab your notebook?" asked Hinata, stopping abruptly and accidentally headbutting Kageyama's nose.

"Ow! Why'd you stop all of a sudden?!" complained Kageyama, rubbing his nose.

"Look! Where's your notebook, you idiot?" said Hinata.

"Oh, right... I'll go get it!" said Kageyama, who returned a moment later with his notebook in hand and Yachi by his side.

"I'll walk you out!" said Yachi as the three of them went down the stairs and stopped at the gate.

"Thanks for helping me study!" thanked Kageyama.

"It's nothing... I have exams too, so it's like a review for me!" said Yachi.

"Well, tomorrow's the big day! See you later!" said Hinata as he started walking.

"See you!" replied Yachi, waving goodbye before heading back into her house.
