MT - 51 The Fierce Battle

With a slight push, the grand doors creaked open under Roy's hands.

The iron doors groaned, revealing a vast and imposing hall.

Dozens of towering columns lined the space, holding up the lofty roof. The floor, paved with polished granite in a medley of five hues, bore mysterious patterns carved with intricate precision, their meaning lost to all but the ancients.

It was an enormous and eerily serene room, its spaciousness unbroken.

Roy cast a quick glance at his companions and gave his orders with a steady voice. "Asuna, back me up. Kirito and Misumi, handle the minions the boss spawns. Once they're down, join the main fight."

The three nodded without hesitation.

Roy took a deep breath and stepped forward, his movements deliberate as he made his way to the heart of the palace.

At the far end, on an imposing throne, sat a colossal figure, shrouded in shadows. As the group approached the center, the figure stirred, its enormous eyes slowly opening to reveal a glimmer of blood-red malice.

A three-meter-tall, monstrous beast loomed before them.

Having sensed their presence, its massive frame began to shudder, each motion heavy with menace. Its eyes burned with an uncontrollable thirst for blood, and its oppressive aura filled the space. Rising from the throne, the beast leapt down with a thunderous crash, shaking the ground upon landing.

In its right hand, it gripped a broadsword over two meters long; in its left, a round shield. Its bulky limbs moved with surprising speed, exuding unbridled ferocity. A guttural roar ripped through the air as it charged directly at Roy.

[Ilfang the Kobold Lord]

The boss's name shimmered into view above its head, accompanied by four full health bars glowing ominously.

The ground trembled as the Kobold Lord charged, its monstrous bulk advancing with terrifying force. Three smaller figures materialized in its wake—armored warriors wielding axes and spears.

[Kobold Ruin Guards]

Their names and health bars hovered above them, an additional threat to an already harrowing battle.

Roy's voice rang out, sharp and commanding. "Go!"

Kirito nodded, flashing a quick warning. "Stay sharp."

With that, he and Misumi surged forward, meeting the Ruin Guards head-on, their weapons clashing in a violent cacophony.

This left Roy and Asuna to face the towering Kobold Lord.

Roy's gaze locked onto the massive creature. The flicker of blue light from his body danced along his blade as the overwhelming pressure of the enemy pressed down on him. His blood surged in response, adrenaline sharpening his focus.

One misstep means death.

One strike and it's over.

Unlike mere data, Roy was flesh and blood. In this fight, caution was paramount, each decision a matter of life and death.

His golden eyes reflected the image of the monstrous Kobold. His stamina dwindled rapidly, but the gathering storm within him grew fiercer with each breath. With every step closer, his determination solidified, his intent turning almost tangible.

When they were just a dozen meters apart, Roy moved. His right foot hit the ground hard, propelling him forward like an arrow shot from a bow.

Every step channeled more force, the energy within him coiling tighter and tighter.

This would be the ultimate strike of the Sword God Style, a release of power so intense that his right arm trembled under the strain. The blade in his hand gleamed with a chilling, deep light.

As his energy reached its peak, the blue glow along the sword's edge darkened into a menacing hue of purple-black, crackling with lethal intent.

Roy's cold, amber-gold eyes narrowed slightly as his sword struck with explosive force.

The Kobold Lord's massive, menacing blade descended upon him, cutting through the air with a howling wind. The weapon's edge gleamed with a deadly chill, its weight and speed splitting the air as it bore down.

Roy could feel the overwhelming pressure emanating from his opponent—a force so intense it pressed against his very breath. The Kobold Lord's movements were shockingly fast, a stark contrast to its bulky frame. But speed alone wasn't enough.

Roy's blade slashed forward in a blur. The sword unsheathed, its edge glowing with concentrated energy, sending a pulse of sword aura that closed the gap between them in an instant.

A streak of purple-black light arced through the air, radiating violent, unrelenting energy. It moved like a shooting star, swift and furious.

The force behind the strike reached the Kobold Lord before its blade could land. The powerful blow sent the monstrous sword flying, a jagged notch torn into its edge. The impact forced the Kobold Lord to stagger backward, but the assault wasn't over.

The dark blade continued its trajectory, cutting through the creature's thick torso.

Roy's sword pierced deep, the strike embedding itself entirely into the Kobold Lord's body. A massive, gaping wound appeared across its abdomen, and the health bar above its head dropped rapidly, losing an entire segment and a half.

Strangely, as Roy pulled his sword free, not a single drop of blood fell from the wound.

Seizing the opportunity, Roy switched to a two-handed grip. The residual energy from his last strike coiled around him, gathering once more. He exhaled sharply, clearing his mind before delivering another ferocious slash.

The second strike carved through the Kobold Lord's armor, slicing into flesh. This time, blood poured freely, staining the ground as the health bar dropped further, leaving only two segments remaining.

But Roy wasn't finished. Planting his foot firmly, he delivered a powerful kick that sent the beast stumbling. The force extended the creature's momentary stagger.

"Switch!"

Without hesitation, Asuna dashed forward, her rapier glowing with blue light. She moved with precision, filling the gap created by Roy's retreat.

Her attacks rained down like a relentless storm, each thrust quick and precise. The shimmering blue streaks of her linear strikes connected one after another, chaining seamlessly into parallel stabs. As her first set of skills entered cooldown, Asuna transitioned effortlessly into her most advanced sword technique: Meteor Strike.

Her rapier glimmered with increasing intensity, each strike faster than the last. The blade moved like a cascade of falling stars, piercing the Kobold Lord's defenses with unparalleled speed.

Though her damage output wasn't as overwhelming as Roy's, her relentless flurry of attacks wore down the enemy's health bar. By the time she finished her sequence, the boss's health had dropped by more than half of its remaining points.

"Asuna, switch!"

Meanwhile, Kirito and Misumi had dispatched the remaining minions and were rushing to rejoin the main fight.

Roy glanced at his dwindling stamina. The blue glow surrounding him flickered faintly, a sign that his current state wouldn't last much longer.

"Everyone, attack together! Don't let it shift into its second form!"

Summoning what strength he had left, Roy braced himself. The strain of using high-intensity sword techniques back-to-back was taking its toll, his right arm aching with fatigue. He switched his grip to his left hand, determined to keep fighting.

His heart pounded fiercely, adrenaline surging through his veins. Every thought felt sharp, his mind racing at lightning speed.

Kirito stepped into Roy's position, seamlessly taking the lead. With all his skill points invested in strength and agility, he showed no hesitation against the Kobold Lord's devastating power.
