Resurrection?

Vritra could clearly smell the scent of blood. He was shocked at his heightened senses, but what shocked him even more was that his hunger seemed to have increased as he smelled the strangely appetizing smell.

It further solidified his belief that he had transformed into something different from a human. Gritting his teeth, he continued to move. Soon he could hear the low whispers of the four teenagers who seemed extremely afraid of their surroundings.

They sat close and kept shivering; it was still day since the faint light was entering through the tiny holes. As he got close, the four teenagers were startled to hear the sound of his footsteps, but all of them had relieved expressions as they saw that it was Vritra. All of them stood up and walked closer to him.

"Are you alright?" Jackal asked, eyeing him from head to toe.

Aside from the wound on his hand, there didn't seem to be any other injury on his body, though his face seemed pale and he seemed a little different from the last time, but they couldn't understand the difference.

"I am fine. Where is the food?" Vritra asked as Jackal pointed towards the bags lying in the distance. Vritra had to leave his bag since just dragging his body was such a difficult task. Without saying a word, he walked towards one of the bags carrying the food.

Then he emptied its contents on the ground, and without wasting a moment, he began to stuff whatever he saw into his mouth.

There was still some meat left, which none of them wanted to eat, so Vritra began to chew on it raw, without even heating it up. This surprised the others, but they just stood there and watched him wolf down food that not even the four of them could finish.

Picking one thing after another, he ate as if he was possessed. Whether it be vegetables, fruits or meat, nothing was spared as munched down on all of it.

Even after eating so much and finishing more than a quarter of the meat, Vritra finally stopped reluctantly. He stared into the empty air for a moment as he looked at the Hunger Limit; it was still at fifty-nine points even after eating so much food.

'At least it is manageable now. Haa, I have never experienced a hunger like this ever,' Vritra thought, staring down at the meat that was left.

He really had acted like a wild beast just now. Cleaning the corner of his lips, he placed the remaining food back into the bag and finally looked at the four attendants. They were staring at him strangely; the four of them weren't sure if his belly would be fine after eating raw meat like that.

"I have found the way out. It isn't far, but while going there, I had fallen unconscious because of too much blood loss, so it took me quite long," Vritra explained. Although they showed concerned expressions, the joy could easily be seen in their eyes.

"I- Is it really safe there?" one of the boys asked. Vritra nodded and began to answer their questions since these four were going to be his witnesses in the sanctum. After around half an hour, he was finally done. The only remaining girl in the group looked at Vritra in anticipation and asked:

"Can we leave for the exit?" Shaking his head, he spoke:

"No, we should wait a little longer just to be safe. I am sure the rune masters from the Korvin family would take at least a day more before they might come out, so we will head outside later." Vritra had a different motive behind this reasoning; he wanted to check something out before heading out.

"Okay, you should rest for now. Should I set up the tent?" Jackal and the other boys spoke. They knew they were going to need him if they had to go out safely, so it wouldn't be good if he got sick or, worse, if he died because of some injury or exhaustion.

"Here, use this medicine for your wound," the girl spoke. Vritra didn't refuse as he took the medicine and allowed them to set up the tent for him; he really needed to rest.

While they were busy, he focused on his skills. The Hunger Limit seemed easy to understand, but he had a feeling there was more to it than just showing that he was hungry, and who knows what would happen if the meter reached zero.

'So instead of human, I am a Netherwraith now? What does it even mean? Sigh, I guess I can't find anything about it yet.' Without wasting too much time on it, he moved ahead, reading many of the various things that had appeared over the ethereal display.

'There is still no talent. How am I supposed to increase my talent?' Vritra wondered, but he continued. The Chrono Parasite skill seemed pretty easy to understand; he could attack parasites to another's body, which would gradually decrease their speed by fifty percent.

This was definitely a great skill. He looked at the four attendants, and since there didn't seem to be any limits to the parasites he could attack, he decided to try it on Jackal.

Walking up to the boy who was busy setting up the tent, Vritra extended his right hand without any expression on his face. Jackal was surprised at first, but then he happily grabbed Vritra's hand and shook it.

"Thank you," Vritra said while he used the skill Chrono Parasite. He could feel something invisible and tiny crawling under his skin in his palm. In just an instant, he could feel the invisible parasite attaching itself to Jackal's body and moving inside his body, probably attaching itself to his blood.

Vritra then pulled his hand back and moved away while observing Jackal. A number had appeared over his head, which displayed [0%], and the presence of the invisible parasite could still be felt.

He sat down against the wall and just continued to look around casually, observing the effect of the parasite. He had the ability to either activate the parasite, keep it deactivated, or just remove it from Jackal's body. After ten minutes, the number had risen to [5%].

[Chrono Parasite Activated] Just as Vritra willed, he could feel Jackal's speed becoming slightly slowed. He himself had not noticed the change, but it could be felt with enough concentration.

'So this is how this skill works. It is pretty good, and no one can detect its presence as long as it is not activated.' Vritra thought, feeling satisfied and in awe of this divine skill. Then he continued. 'But what is Akrin Talvor? Every skill has such things present under them; I wonder what they mean.'

Then he looked at Cursed Requiem. He took a deep breath as he read the text: resurrection?

He couldn't believe that such a thing was really possible.

He had a very strong urge to test this skill out as his gaze once again shifted to Jackal, but calming himself down, he stopped himself from killing his self-proclaimed friend.

He read the skill several times and calmed his mind; this looked like such an impossible skill. Then his eyes landed on Relegia Crest. This skill was easy to understand, but it revealed little about its Plasma Synthesis realm and getting new runes after getting a certain number of followers for him.

It was interesting, but he would have to wait to check it out; he probably wouldn't be getting time for it anytime soon.

'Physique Arcana, so killing beasts and humans to get stronger? Seems pretty much it. So does that mean the others can't get strong by killing the beasts? Hmm, this too will have to wait to be tested in the future. Now, the final and the strangest skill, Demonix Blood Child—what a strange name,' Vritra thought.

It seemed to contain a lot of things, and from the description, not only could this Demonix Blood Child increase his class and physical attributes, but it could even increase his talent. The Demonix Child needed to be fed upon the blood of others.

While he was reading the description and trying to understand it all, he heard Jackal's voice telling him that the tent was ready and that he could go and rest now.

Vritra nodded. He stood up and locked himself inside the tent; now it was time to test this crazy yet dangerous-sounding skill. After he was out of everyone's sight, Vritra called the Demonix soul out of his body.
