Denki x Y/N

The saccharine scent of popcorn and cotton candy hung heavy in the air, a cheerful assault on my senses. Disney World. The happiest place on Earth. Exactly where Denki decided we needed to be for our anniversary. Not that I was complaining. I loved Denki, and seeing his eyes light up as we walked down Main Street, U.S.A., made the slight headache I'd woken up with fade into the background.

He was practically buzzing with excitement, pointing at every character, every shop, every meticulously manicured flowerbed. "Isn't this amazing, Y/N?" he'd ask, his grin wide and infectious. And I'd nod, smiling back, letting his enthusiasm wash over me.

We rode Space Mountain first, Denki screaming gleefully the entire time. I laughed, clinging to his arm, enjoying the thrill of the dark ride despite the slight lurch in my stomach. We ate Mickey-shaped pretzels, sticky with salt, and posed for pictures with Goofy, Denki making sure to get a selfie with every character he could find.

Everything was perfect.

Until it wasn't.

Around lunchtime, a dull throb started in my lower abdomen. I ignored it, attributing it to the excitement and the slightly questionable theme park food. But as the afternoon wore on, the throb intensified, morphing into a sharp, persistent ache.

We were waiting in line for the Haunted Mansion, chatting about our favorite spooky characters, when I felt a disconcerting wetness. Panic surged, a cold wave that washed over me. I excused myself, muttering something about needing to freshen up.

The bathroom was crowded and noisy, but I managed to find a stall. My hands trembled as I checked. There it was. A crimson stain blooming on my underwear, stark against the white cotton.

My period.

Wonderful. Just what I needed on our Disney World anniversary date.

I groaned inwardly. At least I was prepared. I always kept a small emergency kit in my bag, stocked with pads, painkillers, and wet wipes. I quickly cleaned up, grateful for the foresight.

Steeling myself, I decided not to tell Denki. It wasn't exactly romantic conversation fodder, and I didn't want to ruin his day. I'd just pop a painkiller, power through, and try to enjoy the remaining hours.

I rejoined Denki in line, forcing a smile. "Sorry, that took longer than expected," I said, hoping my voice sounded normal.

He didn't seem to notice anything amiss. "No problem! I was just telling this family about that time I accidentally overloaded my quirk during training. You should have seen Bakugo's face!"

I laughed, relieved, and we continued through the Haunted Mansion, the ghostly figures and eerie atmosphere a welcome distraction from the cramping pain.

But the painkillers only did so much. The cramps worsened, twisting and tightening inside me. Every step felt like a jolt, and a wave of nausea rolled over me with each sudden movement.

We went on Pirates of the Caribbean, and the gentle rocking of the boat made me feel even worse. By the time we disembarked, I was clammy and lightheaded.

"Are you okay, Y/N?" Denki asked, his brow furrowed with concern. "You look a little pale."

"I'm fine," I lied, forcing another smile. "Just a bit tired. Maybe we should sit down for a while?"

He readily agreed, leading me to a bench in a shady plaza. I closed my eyes, willing the pain to subside.

"Here, let me get you some water," Denki said, and I heard him rummaging in his backpack. He returned with a bottle and handed it to me.

I took a large gulp, but the cool water did little to ease the throbbing in my head and the ache in my abdomen.

We sat in silence for a few minutes, Denki watching me with a worried expression. He reached out and took my hand, lacing his fingers through mine. His touch was warm and comforting, but it couldn't completely dispel the growing misery.

"Y/N, you're really not okay, are you?" he said softly.

I sighed, defeated. "Okay, fine. I'm not feeling great. But it's nothing serious. Just a bit of a headache and some…stomach cramps." I mumbled the last part, avoiding his gaze.

He squeezed my hand. "Stomach cramps? Are you sure that's all?"

My face flushed. "Well…it's also…that time of the month."

Denki blinked, then his expression softened. "Oh. I see." He paused, considering me carefully. "And you didn't tell me because…?"

"Because I didn't want to ruin our anniversary date!" I blurted out, feeling a surge of frustration. "I wanted it to be perfect, and periods aren't exactly…magical."

He chuckled softly. "Y/N, you know I wouldn't think any less of you just because you're having your period, right? And honestly, seeing you in pain is way worse than knowing you're dealing with cramps."

"I know, I know," I mumbled, feeling guilty. "I just…I wanted us to have fun."

"We can still have fun," he said, his voice gentle. "Just maybe not the kind of fun that involves spinning teacups and roller coasters. How about we head back to the hotel? We can order some room service, watch a movie, and I can give you a massage."

The thought of a dark, quiet room and a soothing massage was incredibly appealing. "That sounds…amazing."

He smiled. "Alright then. Let's ditch the mouse and get you back to reality."

The walk back to the hotel felt excruciating. Every step sent a jolt of pain through my abdomen, and I struggled to keep up with Denki. He noticed my labored breathing and slowed his pace, wrapping an arm around my waist to support me.

"Just a little further," he murmured, his voice close to my ear. "We're almost there."

By the time we reached our room, I was exhausted and nauseous. I collapsed onto the bed, feeling the soft mattress give way beneath me.

Denki kicked off his shoes and joined me, pulling me close. "Okay, just relax," he said, stroking my hair. "I'll order some food and get you some more painkillers."

He did just that, and soon we were curled up in bed, watching a cheesy rom-com and eating mashed potatoes. The pain still lingered, but it was dulled by the painkillers and the warmth of Denki's presence.

He started massaging my shoulders, his fingers kneading the knots in my muscles. The tension slowly began to melt away, replaced by a sense of calm and comfort.

"Better?" he asked, his voice low.

"Much," I murmured, snuggling closer.

He kissed my forehead. "Happy anniversary, Y/N. Even if it's not exactly the anniversary you were expecting."

I smiled, nuzzling into his chest. "It's perfect. Because I'm with you."

Maybe Disney World hadn't been the magical escape I'd hoped for, but it had reminded me of something even more important: that true happiness wasn't about perfect days or fairytale castles. It was about the love and support you shared with the person you cared about, even when things weren't so magical. And in that moment, curled up in bed with Denki, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. Even with cramps.
