The Wind Blows

In the dead of night, Sythe, a mysterious and striking figure, perched atop a wall with a quiet intensity. A black bandana adorned with a white spider insignia that concealed the lower half of his face. His physique was lean yet muscular, a testament to his agility and strength, as he stood shirtless, revealing a tapestry of scars and tattoos that told stories of battles fought and survived.

He wore baggy, plain shorts that hung just below his knees, their loose fit allowing for freedom of movement. His bare feet gripped the stone of the wall, grounding him as he surveyed the scene with keen, observant eyes. Sythe was dark of skin and his hair was styled in thick, locked strands that framed his face, adding to his fierce and enigmatic presence.

Sythe silently stood there perched upon the wall listening to the conversation below.

"So, did you guys find it?" one man asked.

"Yes, it's in the mountain. The others are tracking it down as we speak," another man replied.

"Are you sure it's a celestial beast?"

"Yes. It managed to kill some of our men. The few who escaped confirmed that it was a Yeti."

"Good. The seven of us should head out too."

Just as one of the man took his first step, Sythe sprang into action, decapitating him with utmost precision, his hands as empty as the wind. The others, confused by what had just happened, prepared to attack, but within a split second, they were all cut to pieces. Sythe's fluid movement suggests that he was wielding some sort of weapon but to the average observer, his hands were as empty as the wind. He came and went without a sound or warning, just like the wind itself.

At the Black Widow guild, me and the others made our way to the guild hall. Apparently Cyrus is gonna introduce us to the person who will be supervising us. Hence, we were woken up early and dragged out our rooms. As we walked through the guild hall, I couldn't help but notice how empty the place was. Is this what its always like this early in the morning? We haven't gotten the chance to be formally introduced to our guildmates yet. Apart from Mariah, Cyrus and a couple of random folks we've seen here and there, we pretty much don't know anyone yet.

We made our way over to Cyrus who then brought us face to face with our supervisor. We looked at him with concerned, as we couldn't believe our eyes.

"He doesn't look like a guardian," Alina remarked.

"Well, he is," Cyrus replied, prompting the man to introduce himself.

"My name is Sythe. I will be supervising you four and overseeing your training," he said bluntly, his tone suggested disinterest.

After examining Sythe from head to toe, I couldn't help but remark, "I never thought our supervisor would be a homeless man." It was crude remark but he did look like a homeless person.

In that moment, a cold tension filled the air as we stared each other down, both of us seeming ready to attack at any moment. This guy seems dangerous. Just then, Hikari stepped forward, extending his hand for a handshake.

"Nice to meet you. I am Hikari," he said as they shook hands.

As if following Hikari's lead, Alina and Katherine also stepped forward to greet him. I didn't like this! From the moment I saw him, I knew what he really was and what his true purpose was.

"You'll be going on your first quest today," Cyrus interrupted. "A group of mutants is after a celestial beast, and you will accompany Sythe to stop them at any cost. Most of our other guardians are out dealing with demon sightings, so it will just be the five of you. You don't need to worry; Sythe is one of our most capable guardians, and it would be beneficial for you if you could lean from him."

With that, we headed out of the guild and eventually out of town. We followed Sythe as he made his way into the forest. As we entered the woods, Sythe took off in a mad dash. And, like a flock of baby chicks, we took off after him. He was running at an incredible speed through the forest, navigating a path that was far from perfect. Struggling to keep up, the girls were breathing heavily, their shoulders rising and falling as they took deep breaths and tripped over rocks in their desperate attempt to keep pace, which only infuriated Hikari.

"Hey!!" Sythe turned to glare at him with a look that showcased how annoyed he was. "Slow down.

What's the point in rushing off?"

"We have to hurry up the mountain," Sythe replied.

"The mountain?" Hikari repeated, confused.

The mountain Sythe was referring to, is a large snowy mountain to the south of Quath.

"The celestial beast we're looking for is a Yeti. They typically live in the mountains. We need to hurry if we're going to stop the mutants from killing it. I won't wait for you, so if you can't keep up you'll be left behind."

With that, the group hurried through the forest and up the mountain. We climbed hastily, navigating rocks and obstacles without stopping. On our way up I carefully observed Sythe's movements as he traversed the mountain. He was incredibly agile, its like his body was made of feather. When it came to speed their was no doubt he was faster than me. Even though I haven't seen his physical strength yet, I think I am stronger than him. I could tell by his looking at his muscle mass. I wonder if my body can adapt to compensate for his speed? Even then, I still doubt I could match him when it came to speed. As night began to fall, we reached a high point in the mountains and spotted a large group that had made camp. It appeared to be the mutants Cyrus was telling about.

The five of us stealthily hid and watched as the mutants went about their business. I counted a total of 23 of them, though there were likely more lurking nearby.

"We're outnumbered," I said, glancing at Hikari.

"They're probably weak. Only the weak ones work in such a large groups. They must be working for someone—a leader. Whoever he is, he's likely powerful, someone they deem strong enough to become god," Sythe explained. "Let's see if we can spot the leader. I'll deal with him while you guys hold off the rest."

As he spoke, Alina glanced over at me, as if ensuring I was paying attention. Does she take me for a child? She shot me a look that clearly said, 'Don't you dare run off.'

As we watched and waited, shouts began to echo from another part of the forest, growing closer and closer.

Suddenly, a mob of hideous beasts charged into their camp. "Demons," Sythe whispered. Their skin was as black as night; some had fur while others bore scales. Horns adorned their heads, and their eyes glowed as red as blood.

Chaos erupted in the camp as the demons launched their surprise attack. Though we couldn't find their leader, the group seized the opportunity to fight back.

Sythe moved with incredible speed, cutting down enemies left and right, while the others hesitated, bewildered by his agility. He fought as if wielding a weapon, yet his hands remained empty.

Regaining their composure, the others joined the fray. Hikari summoned flames that spread across the battlefield, freezing enemies as they came into contact with the flame. A flame that freezes thing, impressive. He had wisely lowered the temperature of his flames to freezing point, preventing a wildfire from consuming the forest.

Alina and Katherine also sprang into action, with Alina burying enemies beneath the earth while Katherine took them down with her slingshot, firing projectiles at incredible speed.

I, however, was long gone the moment the attack began. "Bunch of dumbasses!" I thought to myself as I sprinted through the forest. Why would we get involved in a dispute between two enemies who outnumber us? We came here for the Yeti, and that's what I'm going to do. Those morons forgot the reason we came here!

As I ran through the mountain, I concentrated my ability on enhancing my sense of smell, honing in on a strong stench that I had detected earlier. Within moments, I found himself face to face with the behemoth.

The Yeti, a ape-like creature standing at 10 feet tall, with a robust and muscular build. Its body was covered in thick, shaggy light gray fur, it's face features a broad, flat nose, deep-set eyes that convey intelligence, and a wide mouth filled with sharp teeth.

Its long arms hanged down to its knees, and its large hands and feet were equipped with long fingers and toes, ideal for gripping rocky surfaces. The Yeti exuded an aura of both fear and fascination, embodying the untamed wilderness of the mountains it calls home.
