Chapter 46: A warning from the Celestial Beings

"Well, this is a mess." Ragnar exclaimed as he stepped over a pool of blood.

Remnants of bodies were scattered around the lair, raw flesh mixed with blood splattered on every wall, image, and weapon.

Liam grimaced as he recognized Baxter's cloak that lay on top of a pile of flesh.

Elena covered her mouth, trying to stop the urge to vomit.

A heavy silence settled over them. The sight, the smell—everything about this place screamed death.

Trevor let out a sharp breath, his hands clenched into fists. "We let this happen," he muttered, his voice laced with frustration. "We stood back, we hesitated, and now look at this."

Dexter's gaze darkened. "What were we supposed to do, Trevor? Rush in and get slaughtered?"

"Maybe," Trevor snapped. "At least then we would've fought instead of running like cowards."

Dexter narrowed his eyes. "You think we were cowards?"
