The Tower pulsed with life, its ancient mechanisms groaning as if responding to the chaos that had erupted within its walls. The Trial of Ascension's first phase was over, but the reprieve was short-lived. Kaelor, exhausted and disoriented, staggered back to his group, his eyes flickering with remnants of the ethereal glow that had engulfed him during the labyrinthine trial.
"Kaelor, what happened in there?" Eryndil's voice was urgent, her gaze searching his for answers.
"I saw... visions," Kaelor muttered, his voice hoarse. "A throne, shattered. A voice told me I'm not destined to ascend. But why would the Tower choose me for the Trial if that's true?"
The question lingered unanswered as the Watcher reappeared, its tendrils coiling ominously. "The next phase of the Trial awaits. But beware—the shadows grow restless. Not all who ascend do so alone."

1. A Rift Among Allies
The group fractures further as Varen, now unmasked as a traitor, attempts to rally others to his cause.
Eryndil and Ardyn argue fiercely about whether to execute Varen or keep him alive to extract information about the Obsidian Court.

Varen seizes the chaos to steal a Shard of the Abyss, an artifact embedded in the sanctuary's altar. The act awakens a monstrous guardian, a Wyrmspawn, which attacks the group.
As they battle the creature, Varen escapes into the labyrinth with the shard, leaving the group weakened and vulnerable.
