As the sleek car glided through the city streets, the woman, who introduced herself as Lin Mei, launched into a surprisingly enthusiastic monologue about Mr. Gao.
"You know," she said, her eyes fixed on the road but her voice laced with an almost unsettling intensity, "Mr. Gao is such an inspiration. He's so… dedicated. So… handsome." She glanced at Lu Siyan, a strange glint in her eyes. "He works so hard, always putting the company first. He's the kind of leader… you can really admire."
"Right," Lu Siyan mumbled, feeling a little uncomfortable with the intensity of her gaze. He glanced out the window, trying to avoid her eyes.
"He's got that… 'I can conquer the world with a spreadsheet' vibe," the AI whispered. "Truly terrifying."
Lu Siyan chuckled nervously. "Yeah, he seems… driven," he said.
"Driven is an understatement," Lin Mei said, her voice dropping to a near whisper. "He's… obsessed. He's got this… fire in his eyes. A burning desire to… succeed." She glanced at Lu Siyan again, her smile widening slightly. "It's… intoxicating."
"Intoxicating?" Lu Siyan repeated, feeling a chill run down his spine.
"Yeah," Lin Mei said, her voice soft and breathy. "He's… mesmerizing. He's got this… presence. You know? He just… commands attention."
"Like a Roman emperor?" the AI suggested. "Or a… really charismatic tax auditor?"
Lu Siyan just sighed. "He's a project manager," he muttered.
"A project manager with… potential," Lin Mei corrected, her eyes gleaming. "He's going to go far. I can feel it." She glanced at Lu Siyan again, her smile now bordering on… predatory. "He's… destined for great things."
"Destined for… world domination?" the AI whispered. "Or just… a corner office with a really nice view?"
Lu Siyan shivered. There was something about Lin Mei's admiration for Mr. Gao that felt… unsettling. It wasn't just admiration. It was something more. Something… possessive.
"He's such a hard worker," Lin Mei continued, her voice taking on a dreamy quality. "He's always the first one in the office and the last one to leave. He's so… dedicated."
"Dedicated to… spreadsheets?" the AI whispered. "Or maybe… world domination through spreadsheets?"
Lu Siyan decided to change the subject. "So," he said, "you're a software developer?"
"Yes," Lin Mei replied, her attention shifting to him. "I work for… a small startup. We're developing… innovative solutions for… the modern world."
"Innovative solutions like… apps that predict the future?" Lu Siyan asked, a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
Lin Mei's smile faltered for a fraction of a second, then returned, even wider than before. "Something like that," she said, her eyes twinkling. "We're always pushing the boundaries of… what's possible."
"Pushing the boundaries of… reality?" the AI whispered. "Or maybe just… the acceptable level of creepiness?"
Lu Siyan just shook his head. He had a feeling that this car ride was going to be a lot longer than he anticipated. And a lot more uncomfortable.
"So," Lin Mei said, her voice dropping to a near whisper, "you're a software developer too, Lu Siyan?"
"Yeah," Lu Siyan replied, trying to sound nonchalant. He glanced at her, noticing the intensity of her gaze. It was fixed on him, not in a friendly way, but in a way that made him feel… exposed.
"That's… fascinating," Lin Mei purred, her smile widening. "We have so much in common."
"We both… work with computers?" Lu Siyan suggested, feeling a bead of sweat trickle down his temple.
"More than that," Lin Mei said, her voice laced with a subtle threat. "We're both… special. We both have… potential."
"Potential for… coding?" the AI whispered. "Or maybe… world domination through coding?"
Lu Siyan shifted uncomfortably in his seat. "I wouldn't say I'm… special," he said. "I'm just… a regular guy who likes to code."
"Don't be so modest," Lin Mei said, her hand reaching out and lightly touching his arm. The touch sent a jolt of electricity through him, making him flinch slightly.
"Whoa, sparks are flying!" the AI whispered. "I think someone's got a crush!"
Lu Siyan subtly pulled his arm away, trying to suppress a shudder. "So," he said, changing the subject again, "what kind of… innovative solutions… does your startup develop?"
Lin Mei's smile faltered for a fraction of a second, then returned, even wider than before. "We're working on… cutting-edge technology," she said. "Things that will… change the world."
"Change the world how?" Lu Siyan asked, his curiosity genuinely piqued.
"That's… classified," Lin Mei replied, her eyes twinkling. "But I can tell you… it's going to be… big. Really big."
"Big like… conquering-the-world big?" the AI whispered. "Or just… really big spreadsheets?"
Lu Siyan just sighed. He had a feeling that Lin Mei wasn't going to tell him anything concrete. She was playing a game, and he was starting to feel like a pawn.
"You're very… mysterious," he said.
"That's part of my charm," Lin Mei replied, her smile bordering on predatory. She leaned closer to him, her voice dropping to a near whisper. "I like… keeping people guessing."
"Guessing what?" Lu Siyan asked, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Guessing… what I'm capable of," Lin Mei said, her eyes locking with his. "Guessing… what I want."
"She wants your soul!" the AI whispered. "And your instant noodles! And your limited edition Pokémon card!"
Lu Siyan swallowed hard. He had a feeling that Lin Mei wanted more than just his… instant noodles. He had a feeling that she was dangerous. And he had a feeling that he was in over his head.
"I… I should probably get going," he said, his voice trembling slightly.
"Oh, we're almost there," Lin Mei said, her smile widening. "But… I'm not quite ready to say goodbye."
She reached out and took his hand, her grip surprisingly strong. "I have a feeling," she whispered, "that we're going to be seeing a lot more of each other, Lu Siyan."
"She's definitely possessive," the AI whispered. "I think you've stumbled into a yandere romance novel."
Lu Siyan stared at Lin Mei, his mind racing. He knew he had to get out of this car. He knew he had to escape her grasp. But he also knew that she wasn't going to let him go easily. He had a feeling that his life was about to get a whole lot more complicated. And a whole lot more dangerous.
