Lu Siyan watched the man walk away, clutching his lottery ticket like a precious treasure. A small smile played on his lips. He had done the right thing. Even though a tiny part of him still wondered about the "what ifs."
"You're a good person, Siyan," the AI said. "Even if you are a little… gullible."
Lu Siyan rolled his eyes. "I'm not gullible," he muttered. "I just… believe in doing the right thing."
"Right," the AI said. "And what about the other right thing? The right thing that involves you winning the lottery and buying me a super-deluxe upgrade package?"
Lu Siyan sighed. "Let's not start with that again," he said.
He rejoined Wei and Zhang, who were still deep in conversation. He didn't mention the lottery ticket incident. He didn't want to explain. He just wanted to forget about it.
The party continued, the music, chatter, and questionable snacks providing a welcome distraction from his thoughts. But as the night wore on, Lu Siyan couldn't shake the feeling that something was still… off. He felt a sense of unease, a feeling that he was being watched.
He glanced around the room, but everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. He saw Jian and Mei, the happy couple, laughing and dancing. He saw Mr. Gao, deep in conversation with a group of colleagues. He even saw the young man from the convenience store, the one who had almost accused him of stealing the lottery ticket, now happily chatting with some other guests.
"See?" the AI said. "Everyone's having a good time! Even that guy who thought you were a lottery thief is having fun! You should relax and enjoy yourself."
Lu Siyan tried to relax, but he couldn't shake the feeling of dread. He felt like something was about to happen. Something… big.
He decided to step outside for some fresh air. He walked onto the balcony, the city lights twinkling below. He took a deep breath, trying to clear his head.
"Beautiful night, isn't it?" the AI said.
"Yeah," Lu Siyan replied. "It is."
He leaned against the railing, gazing out at the city. And then he saw it.
A lottery ticket, lying on the ground.
"What the…?" he muttered.
"It's a sign!" the AI exclaimed. "A sign from the universe! A sign that you're destined to win the lottery!"
Lu Siyan picked up the ticket. It was a scratch-off. He hesitated for a moment, then scratched off the numbers.
"Any luck?" the AI asked eagerly.
Lu Siyan's eyes widened. "I… I can't believe it," he whispered.
"What? What is it?" the AI asked.
"I… I won," Lu Siyan said, his voice trembling.
"You won! You won! You're a millionaire!" the AI shouted.
Lu Siyan stared at the ticket, his mind reeling. He had won the lottery. Again.
"This is… insane," he muttered.
"Insanely awesome!" the AI corrected.
Lu Siyan couldn't believe his luck. He had been given a second chance. A chance to change his life.
He decided to keep the ticket this time. He had learned his lesson. He wasn't going to let this opportunity slip away.
He pocketed the ticket and headed back inside, a newfound sense of excitement bubbling within him. He was going to be rich. He was going to have everything he ever wanted.
But as he walked back into the party, he couldn't shake the feeling that something was still… off.
He decided to step outside again, needing a moment to process his win. He wandered a bit and found himself in a small, secluded garden nearby. It was quiet, peaceful, a welcome respite from the noise and chaos of the party.
And then he saw it.
The young man from the convenience store, the one who had almost accused him of stealing the lottery ticket, was there. He was standing near a small fountain, talking to a young girl. She looked… familiar. Too familiar.
Lu Siyan watched them, a sense of unease creeping over him. There was something about their interaction that felt… staged. Clichéd.
The young man was being incredibly charming, reciting lines that sounded like they had been ripped straight from a cheesy romance novel. The young girl was blushing, her eyes wide with admiration. It was all so… perfectly… awful.
"This is… ridiculous," Lu Siyan muttered to himself.
"What is?" the AI asked.
"This whole scene," Lu Siyan said. "It's like something out of a bad romance novel."
"You mean like… 'The CEO's Forbidden Love' or 'The Billionaire's Secret Baby'?" the AI suggested.
"Exactly like that," Lu Siyan said.
As he watched, the young man took the young girl's hand and gazed into her eyes.
"I knew from the moment I saw you," he said, his voice filled with emotion, "that you were the one for me."
The young girl gasped, her cheeks flushing crimson.
"Oh, my darling," she whispered. "I feel the same way."
Lu Siyan rolled his eyes. "This is so cheesy," he muttered.
"But it's also… kind of cute," the AI said.
"Cute?" Lu Siyan repeated. "It's ridiculous!"
Just then, a woman stormed into the garden, her face contorted with anger. It was the woman from the party, the one who had been so interested in Mr. Gao.
"What is the meaning of this?" she demanded, her voice ringing through the garden.
The young man and the young girl jumped, startled by her sudden appearance.
"Uh… we were just… talking," the young man stammered.
"Talking?" the woman repeated, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Is that what you call it? Because it looks an awful lot like you were trying to… seduce her."
The young girl glared at the woman, her eyes flashing with anger.
"He wasn't seducing me," she said, her voice defiant. "We were just… connecting."
"Connecting?" the woman repeated, her voice rising. "Connecting how? By reciting lines from a bad romance novel?"
The young girl opened her mouth to retort, but the woman cut her off.
"I've had enough of this," she said, her voice cold and hard. "I know who you are. You're nothing but a gold digger."
The young girl gasped, her face paling.
"And you," the woman said, turning to the young man, "you should be ashamed of yourself. You're supposed to be engaged to Mei! What would she say if she saw you here, with this… this… "
She trailed off, searching for the right word.
"This… hussy?" she finally said, her voice dripping with venom.
The young girl glared at her, her eyes flashing with fury.
"I'm not a hussy," she hissed. "And I'm not a gold digger. I love him."
"Love him?" the woman repeated, her voice filled with disbelief. "You love him? You've only known him for… what? A few hours?"
"It doesn't matter how long I've known him," the young girl said. "I know he's the one for me."
The woman laughed, a harsh, bitter sound.
"You're delusional," she said. "You're both delusional."
She turned to the young man, her eyes narrowed.
"And you," she said, her voice cold and hard, "you're going to regret this."
She turned and stormed away, leaving the young man and the young girl standing there, their faces flushed with anger and embarrassment.
Lu Siyan watched them, a mixture of amusement and pity swirling within him. He couldn't believe what he had just witnessed. It was like something out of a bad soap opera.
"Well," the AI said, "that was… dramatic."
Lu Siyan nodded. "Yeah," he said. "It was."
He turned and walked away, deciding to head back to the party. He had a lottery ticket to cash in. And he had a feeling that things were about to get a whole lot more interesting.
