They walked in silence for a while, the only sound the rhythmic click of her heels on the pavement and the distant hum of traffic. Lu Siyan, still reeling from the attempted robbery and the unexpected rescue, glanced at the woman beside him. Her scarf concealed most of her face, but he could see the determined set of her jaw, the way her eyes scanned their surroundings with a cautious intensity.
