Chapter 15: Sarah's Resolve 2
Kai woke up to the soft, melodic chirping of birds outside his window. The gentle sounds of nature filled the room, making him stir slowly. He sat up in bed, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. Sarah stirred beside him, stretching her arms above her head.
"Good morning," Kai said, his voice husky from sleep.
"Good morning," Sarah replied, her voice soft and gentle.
Kai swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood up, his muscles rippling beneath his skin. He walked to the bathroom, his back muscles clearly defined as he moved. His abs were chiseled, and his broad shoulders seemed to fill the doorway.
As he stepped into the shower, the warm water cascaded down his body, highlighting his impressive physique. His angry expression returned as he remembered the events of the previous day. His countless veins popped out all over his body, making him look more dangerous. His black eyes seemed to bore into the wall, and his black hair was plastered to his head.
When he emerged from the shower, he was still seething with anger. Sarah looked up at him, her eyes widening slightly as she took in his imposing figure. A blush rose to her cheeks as she quickly looked away.
"Why don't you wear a dress? It's cold," Sarah said, trying to sound nonchalant.
Kai raised an eyebrow, his expression softening slightly. "I'll get dressed," he said, his voice a little gentler.
Sarah nodded and stood up, her eyes locked on his face for a moment before she turned and headed to the bathroom.
As she took her bath, Sarah's thoughts turned to her meeting with her friend. "Today I'm meeting my friend after a long time," she thought to herself. "Mr. Unknown, was it?" she muttered, a sly smile spreading across her face like an evil grin.
After her bath, Sarah got dressed and headed to the kitchen to start breakfast. Meanwhile, Kai went to wake up Lily.
Lily opened her eyes to find her father standing over her, a gentle smile on his face. "Oh, you're back," she said, her voice sleepy.
"It's morning, sweetheart. Get up," Kai said, his voice soft.
Lily hugged her father tightly. "I was dreaming about you, and yesterday I was waiting, but you didn't come."
Kai's expression turned guilty. "Yeah, I came late yesterday. Sorry, princess."
Kai helped Lily get dressed in a beautiful brown and white outfit. He then got ready himself, wearing a white tracksuit that accentuated his athletic build.
Together, they headed to the kitchen, where Sarah had already prepared breakfast. The three of them sat down to eat, laughing and chatting together.
As they finished their meal, Sarah stood up, wearing a comfortable brown long jacket and a black cap. Her ponytail came out from the back, and she looked stylish and confident.
"I'll be back," she said, her voice firm.
Kai nodded, his eyes locked on hers for a moment before she turned and left.
After breakfast, Kai and Lily decided to spend the morning together, enjoying the crisp, cold weather. After bundling up warmly, they headed out to a nearby park. The frost-covered grass sparkled in the sunlight, and the bare branches of the trees stood out against the clear blue sky. Kai held Lily's tiny hand as they strolled along the winding paths, her laughter filling the air as she pointed out little birds fluttering by.
"Daddy, look! That bird is so tiny!" Lily exclaimed, her excitement infectious.
Kai smiled, crouching down to her level. "It's a sparrow, princess. They love the cold mornings."
They stopped at a food cart and bought ice cream despite the chill in the air. Lily giggled as she tried to keep up with the melting treat, while Kai made a dramatic show of finishing his before hers.
"Daddy, you're cheating!" she laughed, her cheeks rosy from the cold.
"Cheating? Never!" Kai grinned, wiping a smudge of ice cream from her nose.
As they continued their walk, they came across a frozen pond. Kai lifted Lily onto his shoulders so she could get a better view. "Wow, it's so shiny! Like glass," she marveled, her little hands resting on her father's head.
Kai stood still for a moment, taking in the serene beauty of the scene—the frosty trees reflected in the icy surface, the soft winter sunlight warming their faces. His heart felt full as he listened to Lily's delighted chatter, her joy melting away the tension he had been carrying for days.
"Daddy, can we come here again tomorrow?" she asked, her voice hopeful.
"Of course, sweetheart," Kai replied, his smile warm. "Anytime you want."
Meanwhile, Sarah arrived at her meeting place, her eyes scanning the area for her friend. She spotted her friend and smiled, her eyes sparkling with determination.
As she approached the group, every friend greeted her with a nod and a smile. "It's good seeing you, 'Angel of Death'," they said, their voices filled with a mix of respect and fear.
Sarah's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with a hint of menace. "It's good seeing you all too," she replied, her voice dripping with confidence.
