Chapter 22 Trust Me

  Morgan's PoV

  The splintering of wood echoed in the cabin as we clashed mid-air in a ferocious frenzy of fur and fang and all the time that we fought, I could see the image clear in my mind of Melanie's expression of shock and utter terror, her eyes wide with fear as she stood frozen in the doorway.

  Dingus had positioned himself in front of her protectively, his lips pulled back and his teeth bared, growling furiously at the man who had intruded on our calm.

  My jaw gripped onto his neck as he clawed wildly at my back, shattered dishes and splintered cabinet doors littering the floor as well as the sad remains of the Christmas cookies that Melanie and I had made.

  The sight of the broken remnants filled me with fury, the memory of our time together ruined and lying in fragments on the floor.
