CHAPTER 43 The Future of the Pack

  IAN'S POV

  "This is about the future of the pack. You have a responsibility to your people. How can you be a good Alpha if you can't even listen to the advice of your own parents?"

  I felt my anger building, but I knew I had to stay calm. I took a deep breath and said, "I appreciate your advice, but I still have to make my own decisions.

  "Even if those decisions are wrong?" he asked, his voice challenging.

  "What if this girl you're so interested in is not who she seems? What if she's using you to gain power in the pack?"

  I felt my hackles rising. "I know that's not true," I said, my voice rising in spite of myself.

  "I trust my instincts, and my instincts tell me that this girl is not out to hurt me. I think she's my destined mate, and I'm not going to let you or anyone else tell me otherwise."

  "You're being naive, Ian," he said, sounding frustrated. "You're letting your emotions cloud your judgment.
