IAN'S POV
I waited as the phone rang, feeling my stomach twist in knots. I knew this would not be an easy conversation.
Finally, Mr. Roberts picked up.
"Hello, Mr. Roberts," I said.
"Thank you for taking my call. I'd like to talk to you about your daughter, Louisa."
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line. "Of course, Mr. Parker," Mr. Roberts replied.
"I understand that Louisa has been causing some problems for you," he said. "I want to apologize for any trouble she has caused." Mr. Roberts said I sighed...
"That's very kind of you, Mr. Ian. But I have to say, I'm not sure an apology will be enough at this point. Louisa is very upset, and she's refusing to listen to reason. She seems convinced that you will change your mind and marry her."
I took a deep breath. This was not going to be easy.
"Sir, I have explained to her that I can not marry her and that do not intend to change my mind." I said.
There was silence on the other end.
