IAN'S POV
I wanted to make it clear that I wasn't comparing my mate to Louisa in any way.
I was simply trying to find the best fit for both of us.
"And you think Louisa can not win your heart one day and you would grow to love her?" He asked.
"My heart is fixed on one woman and that's my mate who I have known for a very long time." I said.
"That's right," I said.
"My heart is committed to my mate, and I don't see that changing. I respect Louisa and I think she's a wonderful person, but I don't see myself falling in love with her. I hope you can understand that this is not a personal rejection of her, but rather a recognition that we're not right for each other in that way."
I hoped that Mr. Roberts would understand that my decision was not a reflection on Louisa's worth, but rather a reflection of my own feelings.
