Ryan's POV
"Then why won't she wake up?"
I paced back and forth. The doctor gave me that same smile as the day before. They didn't know, and there was nothing wrong with her. She just needs time. It is all they have been saying these last couple of days.
I had felt so relieved. She seemed to be unharmed, for the most part. Alive. But the feeling had been short-lived. With a bone-chilling sound, she breathed out one time. Like all the air left her, and her eyes rolled back. Since then, it has been like this. Hooked up to machines and needles. I could hear her heartbeat, her weak but steady breath, and her pulse, but she didn't wake up. Didn't react. Nothing. She resembled sleeping beauty, bound to an endless sleep more than the woman I had just begun to know.
"She needs time. I don't see what else there could be, Alpha."
"Then check again."
