Ryan's POV
The pain was excruciating, like acid coursing through my body. If it had been a regular bullet wound, I could have handled it. But this pain was different; it was laced with poison that spread rapidly and numbed my muscles and nerves. It burned through both me and Ragnar.
Within seconds, my body became useless while Ragnar fought an invisible enemy attacking me mercilessly without a physical form to stop. To fight the encroaching darkness, I forced myself to stay conscious and remember everything happening around me.
Then suddenly, she appeared - my little white cloud - chasing away the darkness with warm electrical waves that washed over my skin. Her energy collided with the acid burning through my veins, allowing me to finally relax knowing she remembered me.
As her true form emerged before me, all tension left my muscles in relief. With a smile on my face, I felt how old memories pulled me in.
