Rowena POV
Zoe puts the car in park and looks out of the windshield. Her eyes are fixated on the darkness that lies before us. I look in the direction she is staring, hoping to see what she is looking at, but I can't see anything. Only a mass of gnarled trees catches my eye.
"We will have to walk the rest of the way," Zoe whispers.
My throat feels dry as I try to swallow down my fear. Maybe coming here was a mistake, but it is too late to turn back now. I just need to find my brother and talk some sense into him. I don't remember anything about my brother, but surely, he will listen to reason.
As soon as I step out of the car, I can hear it. The sound of fighting. Wolves howl in the distance, and growls echo just beyond the trees. My knees wobble under my weight as I step forward. Claude wraps his arm around my shoulder and tugs me closer to him. I want to push him away, but honestly, I need his comfort.
