CHAPTER 10 The Next Full Moon

  Alyssa's POV

After the casual conversation had come to a silence, I found myself pushing the food around the plate with my fork. The salmon looked delicious, but I just couldn't stomach it. I wondered if I was making the right decision with the Alpha King's offer, as his proposition circled around my head.

"You've gone quiet," Travis said, his eyes full of concern for me "Don't tell me you're having second thoughts," a playful tone sounded in his voice, and I knew he was only trying to relax me. But it was like he was reading my mind already.

"I don't know," I replied eventually "A year just seems a bit long, for being your mate, I mean,"

"Put it this way Alyssa," Travis said confidently "If I don't mark you, Derek will still be able to track you down. We need to mark you as soon as we can so he can't get to you. Isn't that what you wanted?"
