CHAPTER 16: My Father

Two days had passed since I arrived back in the city, and I was restless waiting for news on Gabriel. Marcel had nothing new to tell me and I was getting more frustrated by the minutes.

“I need to know that he is ok. Why hasn’t he come back to me yet?” I sighed and walked over to the window. Avery had tried so hard to keep my mind at ease but it was driving me mad now. I had had enough.

“Avery please give me some time with Daisy. I need to speak to her privately.” I heard Marcel say to Avery. I looked up in surprise. Avery nodded and left the room. I took a seat and watched Marcel as he looked nervous. I hadn’t seen him like this before but something bad must have happened.

"Daisy, there's something I need to tell you," Marcel began, his fingers anxiously scratching his head. I sat back in the seat, my heart pounding as I drummed my fingers on the small coffee table beside me.
