CHAPTER 16

  In the darkness of the room filled with soft light, Rebecca sat beside Calix's bed. She gently stroked her son's forehead and radiated love and warmth through those touches. In the silence of the night, she prayed that Calix would recover quickly and return to being a cheerful and healthy child.
