CHAPTER 89 Unraveling the Dark Spell

  Emily Pov

My feet falter, and I fall onto a body; my eyes take a moment to process what's lying on the ground, rows and rows of fallen bodies.

A hand emerges and pulls me up, helping me to stand from that open-air cemetery. As my eyes follow the hand that saved me, relief floods my heart, and I pull the hand closer to me, bringing the body into a hug.

"Thank the moon goddess I found you," I say relieved to Amy.

"What are you doing here? It's not safe," Amy responds worriedly, and I continue holding her hand tightly.

"I came to get you out of here. I came to take you home!" I declare.

  "But..."

I don't allow Amy to finish the sentence; I pull her hand to keep running. Running away from the bestial winged creature, away from the sea of dead bodies. Away from the hell that surrounds us on all sides.

We run until I spot an illuminated cave, the only place untouched by darkness. It was there, the way out of this curse, the way out of this torment.
